Skaneateles is a popular upstate resort town about twenty miles southwest of Syracuse. The community sits at the north end of Skaneateles Lake, and summertime always sees a huge influx of visitors looking to take part in some boating, fishing, swimming, and sunbathing. Even after the summer season ends, the town sees a steady influx of visitors attracted by the autumn foliage and traditional holiday decorations around the community.
The picturesque Downtown district features a great selection of unique restaurants, bars, specialty shops, and art galleries near the shore, many offering terrific views over the water. While the idyllic setting makes this area a popular spot for tourism, the excellent local schools and low crime rate also make Skaneateles a great option for families.
