Tucked away in the northeast corner of Tennessee (and in fact overlapping into Virginia), Bristol is best known for two great Southern traditions: NASCAR and country music. Bristol Motor Speedway regularly draws well over 100,000 fans on race days, and numerous museums, landmarks, and festivals celebrate Bristol’s heritage as the “Birthplace of Country Music.” And although old-timey music takes center stage most of the time, the local performing arts scene is fairly diverse, incorporating theater, ballet, and more contemporary music.
