Property Ratings at The North End
This has been the worst living experience I have ever experienced anywhere. I'm just in total disbelief. I live in the Aperture apartments and for the past year I have been here it's been nothing but problems and the way they seem to handle it is just ridiculous. My key fob, not just for the doors but for the garage to park, randomly will just shut off out of no where. This has happened about 5 or 6 times in just one year and one of the times being a weekend so I had to rely on people in the building to let me in (which we aren't encouraged to do) but obviously when the office is closed, what are you supposed to do? The fact that I can't get into my own home is unacceptable.Even worse, when I ask why this keeps happening, they continue to tell me they don't know and that the property manager will handle it... it's been a year and it's still happening. Now, I'm in my house and my roommate is calling me telling me her key fob isn't working again now too. Absolutely ridiculous; I've never had this happen anywhere else I've lived and this is the most rent I have ever paid anywhere- absolutely unacceptable. In addition, not sure if there's a giant garbage dump or what it is in the Aperture building but it ABSOLUTELY WREAKS of foul garbage in the entire building all the time. So much so that it seeps into our vents and into our home. The smell is so foul that I had to start wearing a face mask when I'd walk down the hallway because it was so strong and potent. This should not be happening, period. Our home constantly stinks like foul garbage. Lastly, our unit was under construction for a while because a couple floors above us flooded their floor and it came down into our unit. Dominic, the property manager, said he would discuss compensation and aftermath stuff with the units that were affected after everything is done. It's been about a month now and nothing has been discussed; seems like he was just trying to shut us up and get us out of his face. In addition, we were ordered to keep 5 giant commercial industrial fans going in our house for a week nonstop, due to the flooding, and was told that we would be compensated for our electric bill that month, over the phone with Dominic himself, because these fans are obviously going to take up a lot of energy and hike up our we energies bill. He did not compensate us and is acting like e just forgot. I am so beyond livid with how awful this experience was.
The grills by the pool are so gross. They are filthy. One of the 2 doesn’t even work at all. There’s no running water in sink. There’s garbage by the pool area Sunday morning from the entire weekend.

From the time I moved here for work, during the two years I stayed and even through the process of leaving, I found the management very proactive, responsive and flexible. Location was terrific and close to many attractions. I found the area very walkable and seldom used my car. I got used to the street noise after a few months but thats what I signed up for by living on the first floor with my own entrance right on the street. Quieter rooms available on the river side if required. All in all a great stay with no regrets!

I am extremely frustrated with my experience of moving out of the North End. My husband and I lived there for 3 years and took excellent care of the apartment. We cleaned thoroughly after we moved out and we were charged nearly $800 for cleaning and damages. I would not recommend living here based on my experience with moving out. This is quite disappointing as we did have a good experience during the 3 years we lived there but the damage fees for moving out negate any good experience we had.

This is a delayed review that I should have written months ago. I moved in the North End (Aperture Unit) in late 2017, and moved out March 2020. I was beyond thrilled to call this place home during that time. The location, amenities, friendliness of staff, cleanliness of the inside and outside of the building was top notch. I can not say enough good things, and would recommend this place to anyone looking for an apartment downtown. I will forever turn to Mandel Group for my rental property needs after this great experience at the North End.

I've lived in a number of Mandel Properties so far, and I can tell you that every management team I've worked with is great. The maintenance staff doesn't get enough credit - they're great (make friends with them - they have a tough job!) I lived for years in a unit facing North in the Aperture. The unit was great, amenities were outstanding (until Covid reduced them a bit), parking and being able to walk to the store through the basement - all amazing. The electrical work was a little sub-par - my lights flickered when I shaved (I complained, but in the end, there was nothing to do about it), and it was extraordinarily loud when motorcycles went past (or harley anniversaries) but if you're not facing the road, probably wouldn't notice. That's the only thing I'd watch out for. I'd live there again (even if a bit pricey), if I wasn't overhanging the road.

I've lived at the north end for nearly two years and they have surpassed my expectations in a lot of ways. Let me first start by stating that I've lived in studio/1br apartments in the ONE building and the Vignette building. Each building in the community has it's own perks/amenities and I can honestly say that each one offers something unique and gives you a reason to travel around whether it be the outdoor courtyards, swimming pool, theatre room, library, etc. The management is typically on the ball with maintenance calls, general questions, and move in/move out details. I've had a lot of really good luck working with Elizabeth and Justin to name a few. Other members of the office always greet you with a smile and seem to go the extra mile for you. I've been fortunate enough to take part in some activities that they have planned in conjunctions with other tenants via social media and they go out of their way to make really cool events happen. My only caveat is that they sometimes don't crack down hard enough on people that blatantly ignore some of the rules. They often put out a friendly reminder email that doesn't really get to the root of the problem. Pros A wide range of amenities Reasonable pricing for a very nice part of town unique floor plans new appliances and finishes Great location Mostly soundproof Cons Some tenants treat the place like its college housing that Mom and Dad are paying for Most tenants keep to themselves and don't take advantage of social areas Parking seems a bit steep but it is probably on par with other complexes.

This apartment is well located whether you like to eat out or stay in. Three great neighborhoods are within walking distance ( Brady street , Lower East side, Third Ward). The on site management is right on top of maintenance requests. The kitchens are well appointed. The building also has a variety of floor plans to suit your taste and budget. The courtyard is well maintained and the game room is fun to visit with friends. Add to that safe parking underground for my car and motorcycle but honestly I'm using my car less now because I enjoy walking everywhere.
The North End community is everything that I was looking for in a home, and the staff is incredibly helpful. Apartments are modern and there is a variety of layouts to fit different lifestyles. The fitness center is open 24/7 with almost new machines and plenty of space. The common areas are well-maintained and the second floor roof deck is a perfect place to relax downtown.
