Property Ratings at The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia
The newest management is awful. Construction noise and lack of use for the amenities makes me sick. Nothing is working on a consistent basis or has been taken away. Can't wait till lease is over.
The management of this place is pathetic. Everything has changed since they changed the management team. Nothing is working (secure parking gate, pool, game room, elevators) Sure it may be fixed but give it a few weeks and they are down again. We chose this place for its amnesties...but they all have either been removed or no longer work. Kettler should be ashamed of themselves for putting this team in charge. Pool is dirty, hallways carpets are torn and dirty, Hallway walls are banged up and chipped. Management said this was all going to be cleaned and changed....NOT. Lease can not expire fast enough for me.
The building has gone under construction for more than 8 months now and it is still ongoing. While the management did not offer a discount to tenants due to the huge inconvenience, they have increased their rents. The construction people start before 8 am while we are still sleeping. Huge inconvenience. Furthermore, we had a mouse in our house a few months ago, just be ready for that if you are considering this apartment. And finally, the back stairs next to the stores always smells weed with so much dirt, bottles, and cigarette.
I really enjoy living here. I love the location, the staff is friendly and responsive and the building is always kept clean. I also really appreciate and enjoy that they have regular events for residents. Michelle V.
I have been living here for o we 2 years but my recent experience with this construction work in my balcony , is completely unacceptable. I will not be referring Met Columbia apartments to May of my friends or relatives in the future
This apartment used to be great about 7 months ago. It used to be nice and quiet. Sometime about 7 months ago, they started doing construction in the courtyard. Unbeknownst to me, they started hammering on my apartment wall, waking me and my wife up every morning. I am still working from home and have been working from home since the COVID pandemic. The construction makes it impossible to work and have meetings when I have very audible banging in my background. When I called the front office asking for when the construction would be over, they never answered me. They never answered my emails either. When I finally went to the office to ask, the man at the front desk told me he didn't know when the construction would be finished and that I should email. At that point, I just gave up. Usually construction is bearable, but not when they are doing it right on your window. I'm glad that I'm moving out next month. The apartment is conveniently located in front of the Columbia mall, with an easy walk to Merriweather. The maintenance staff is amazing and very friendly. But, the office staff and construction are serious detractors to this otherwise fine apartment.
Used to be better. They have been fixing the outside of the building for ever and the noise and construction is a problem. Nothing is open for the residents but the pool and one side of the common area. Construction is taking forever. Alot of weed being smoked and the halls smell of it as well as the parking garage and balconies. NOT SMOKE FREE
We just moved into our new apartment at the Metropolitan Columbia Apartments and were so pleased with the exceptional level of professionalism and customer service!
The staff has been very attentive to my requests. They have been very accommodating and cheerful.
The quietness and cleanliness of the area always blows my mind ohooo best place to relax in mind and body.

My husband and I chose our apartment before moving in and we were lucky that we love our apartment! Everything feels brand new and modern. The staff is friendly and always tries to bring the community together with fun events and have handled COVID with great communication taking every pre-caution necessary to keep everyone safe and comfortable. The apartment is also in a great location - walking distance to the mall, Whole Foods, and a lake to walk! You will not regret your decision to call The Met your next home :)
Location is fabulous and amenities are excellent. Would prefer all hardwood/ laminate to carpeting. Especially during a pandemic carpeting is extra gross
I love it here. Its like walking into a hotel upon entry. Staff is warm and welcoming. Kettler doesnt skimp on keeping someone available to keep it clean, which is the first thing to go In most places Ive been to. And having a restroom near the amenities is a detail not everyone would think of, but boy is it nice to have it there. Even the detail of disposal bags in the dog walking area in case a resident forgets one, and keeping those cans empty. Just fantastic.

I enjoy living here and the staff does their very best to make it easy for you to feel welcome and at home. Two staff members Jacob and Suzette just really go over and above to make your every request happen in as timely a fashion as possible.

The Metropolitan is a gem in the Columbia community. Uniquely urban, it fits nicely in the Town Center community within walking distance to the Mall in Columbia, Whole Foods and Merriweather Post Pavilion. The units truly feel like home and property management and maintenance create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents. I've called the Metropolitan home for 4 years and hope to continue to do so in the future!
My service request was actually completed immediately! These guys don't mess around when it comes to service and professionalism. Not only do they fix the issue fast, they have great bedside manner! The responsiveness of the staff is a key reason while I'm still here!
Ive been a resident here for five years and regard The Metropolitan as being home, on a more personal level. Neighbors are both friendly as well as cordial. Individual as well as collective communications should be a primary initiative for both residents and staff which will enhance better relations.

Appliances (especially dishwasher)are cheap and never work. There is never hot water and the water pressure is non existent. Walls are thin and windows are not insulated. All drains are always clogged. Apartments smell like sewage at least once a month, and bathroom exhaust fans are useless because they have no power....breeding place for mold.
This is my fifth year of being a Metropolitan resident. There have been both good and questionable experiences which would likely be the case for anyone with similar longevity as mine.

Great location near the mall, lake and Whole Foods! Plus freeways as well! Staff is friendly and helpful and open on Sundays! Also the apartment is very modern!
The Metropolitan Columbia is as close as one can get to worry-free living at its best! The building is attractive, clean and quiet. The well maintained common areas are large and well appointed. The gym is open 24/7, (too early to make use of the outdoor pool and grills). Those responsible for managing and maintaining are conscientious, very helpful and pleasant. Our three bedroom two-year-old unit is a delight! It is well designed with a kitchen center island, like new GE appliances, huge MBR walk-in closet, large bathrooms, with loads of natural light streaming through eight-foot windows in every room. Having gone through downsizing through a succession of three condominiums over the years, have sold one and now lease the other two. At this stage in our lives my wife and I agree, The Metropolitan offers the true freedom of worry-free living!
The Met Columbia is a safe clean and very comfortable apartment building. We feel safe and are very happy with the apartment and what it offers
People in this community are very friendly, including the residents, leasing office team, cleaning teams and maintenance teams. It is a place that feel comfortable.
Extremely great staff and nice rooms/atmosphere
Nice apartment complex in a great location. There are a lot of convenient amenities in the apartment and a lot of good stores and restaurants close by. But my apartment is on the 5th floor and the people above us can be easily heard with every footstep. There's also a very annoying gnat problem in my bathroom that most is most likely due to past water damage and rot within the walls of the building.
At the moment I am not particularly comfortable in doing so. Other than my personal property being mishandled and potentially damaged, I will plead the fifth until everything has been brought to a conclusion.
I am so happy at my new home. The community and staff are friendly and the building is contemporary and the common areas are pristine. I was blown away with the floor plans, appliances, and amenities. I feel like I am living in a luxury community.
The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia provides luxury and all inclusive resort like services. Specifically, my wife and I are extremely satisfied with the staff (Khiara & Mercedes) and their prompt responses to alleviate any concerns. Management (Anthony) has also remembered our names from day one and that goes a long way. Most importantly, they strive to go out of their way to help the tenants. Finally, we have experienced the best maintenance team (Tim & Shawn) with their timeliness, knowledge, and professionalism. The building also remains a clean and safe environment for everyone. The Metro has a dynamic team, and I wouldn't choose another property due to my awesome experiences due to the staff!
Leasing staff are great to interact with and they have a real care to keep tenants following the rules and maintaining a standard of community.
The Metropolitan has been a fantastic home for us. Any issues upon move-in were promptly addressed by staff and maintenance. Amenities and units are beautiful, and the location is great. Would recommend this property to anyone!
Nice apartment to love in for young Adults, however the Gym needs improvement along with the lounge which is of no use at all at the moment. Very Pet friendly but not of much use to people who don't have pets. Charlie is an excellent security personnel but the rest need to Improve as they allow non residents all the time in the Building which is definitely a headache for other residents
The Met is a wonderful living community. Its amenities are fantastic. The parking garage lies right outside my apartment, so I can get to/from my car without dealing with snow or other weather. The management team is wonderful - they know all our names, take interest in our lives, are consistent and reliable. Access to the best venues in Columbia is right outside the door. It is very bike friendly. Great restaurants and shopping are in walking distance. I've been recommending the Met to all my friends. I am a real resident. Betsy B
