The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Lyon
Do not move here. Worst experience ever. Terrible management. Maintenance guys stealing. Elevator always broken. Mail packages stolen. Bugs and pests in other units. Everything always breaks and they take ten years to fix it. Hot water goes out every so often. Just an overall terrible experience for anyone.
I went to tour these apartments and the management was unorganized and rude. Very condescending. The tour took less than 5 minutes and was almost unhappy I asked for the tour even though THEY REACHED OUT TO ME! do not recommend
You must consider this apartment complex a WALK-UP at any given time because the elevators are Constantly Broken, I got stuck in an elevator once for about 45min and had to call 911 because their call button was disabled. There was a literal shooting on the first floor here in April, their entrances are always unlocked, anybody can walk in and packages go missing constantly. They also promised many amenities like the outdoor patio and hot tub which have never become available to us. They will be doing construction on the bottom floors for the next 12 months so it will be loud to live here! They also tried to upcharge my lease by over $200/mo just to continue living here next year with no reasoning. Parking is extra and you pay all utilities yourself so you need to add about $200/mo to the rent to accommodate that.
Spend the extra money and go to the nicer complexes. This place is absolute garbage in my opinion . Dirty. Stinky. No secure entrance or exit. Shootings. Homeless ppl. Stolen packages. No management available ever. Loads of extra charges every month. Stolen cars. Bar fights. Leaking pipes. No AC. Rat and bug infested. No timely maintence. Elevators are always broken. I could keep going….
This place is so unsafe. The shooting last week is to showcase how bad it is. Cops get call all the time. Management is rude/condescending. They only care about getting the money but they break contract all the time by not keeping anyone safe. There is no lock between the outside and your apartment not one. You apartment lock if you wiggle the door hard enough it opens. Black mold all over the complex. Homeless people sleep in the stairs. Bikes/cars/packages get stolen all the time. Water heater barely works. Elevators NEVER work. Exposed wiring, water leaks in when it rains. HORRIBLE PLACE.
the list is too long to name, they don’t follow up on maintenance requests or emergency requests which is crazy. You’d think if a wash is leaking a lot of water they would want to fix it ASAP. We’ve been waiting 3 days now and counting. Our dishwasher took 2 months to fix and our shower has peeled up 2 times already and is now on its third time. We have found tons of mold in the bathroom sink/showers, as I said the list goes on and on so please think twice before signing a lease.
Do not live here. The location is its only amenity and there are other places in the East Village to live with better management. Under previous management there were amazing amenities, responsive staff, and more than just bandaged attempts at repairs. With the new management they stopped doing landscaping, stopped cleaning off walkways & driveways in the winter, they upped rent, took away amenities such as free internet, and they added shared amenities to our accounts without notice. Doors don’t lock properly, key fobs don’t work, and only one of the two elevators has works sporadically for the last year, all of which are not the basic expectations of the living environment they are attempting to advertise. There is regular turnover of the property management staff on property which just goes to show that it’s the overall property management company is ruining what once was a great place to live downtown.
The new management has been stepping up their game with some awesome upgrades. The gym is finally back in action, and they've got cool new stuff like a pelaton bike, reflect mirror, and even a full garage door. They're also giving the deck a makeover, and I can't wait to enjoy that in the fall! The location is a total win! Right around the corner to interstate access. Plus, all the fun of East Village is within walking distance. The view here is absolutely breathtaking! I mean, where else in town can you get such an epic view of the DSM skyline? If you're looking for your next place to call home, I'd say don't hesitate and give The Lyon a call. It's a solid 10/10 in my book!
I've had a great experience with the management here! They are very responsive and have made great updates to the property
This place went downhill rapidly after the new management stepped in. They would charge you for random things, were very difficult to contact because they are never in the office and place is just run down. So frustrated with the staff and overall experience after the new management stepped in.
