The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Landing Ames
The place was FILTHY when we moved in, even though they said they'd clean it. They claimed they would change the carpet before we moved in, but we found cat litter in the closet's carpet and got told they couldn't do anything about it until we pressured them to change it. There's overspray paint everywhere, and the unit looks much older than the model unit we toured. The toilet clogs at least once every month, and our bathtub is 100% connected to the garbage disposal of the unit above us. One day, we spent the entire afternoon and evening out of the apartment and returned to a bathtub full of broccoli. Not only that, we could hear the upstairs neighbor using their sink/garbage disposal, and surely, water would come out of my bathtub every time they'd use it. Couldn't sleep very well that night because I was afraid my bathtub would overflow. They gaslight us constantly into thinking this is all somehow our fault. I pity anyone who gets deceived into moving to this sad, overpriced dumpster of a place. The pros are that the place is pretty big, has a porch, and has an in-unit washer and dryer. Nothing out of this world as we used to pay less for an apartment of the same size in Ankeny with the same kind of amenities.
Upon move in, the staff was extrodinarily kind and very helpful with every little question I had, even the dumb ones! I have now lived here for about 8 months, and I couldnt be happier! I am a college student here, and as long as I am in Ames I will be residing at South Duff! Amazing staff, great ammenities, fair prices, and a wonderful community. Amazing place to live hands down!
The office staff is very helpful. Maintenance is amazing. It’s the perfect quiet place to live. Tucked back off one of the main roads so you’re close to everything you need. It’s pet friendly and the apartments are spacious.
I have been living here for awhile now and have nothing but good thing to say. Not only are the employees including maintenance super helpful but they’re also extremely considerate and nice. They host the best events too:)
Pre-move in, the staff has been exceptional. Very helpful and willing to answer all questions and concerns. Always someone to answer the phone, I've never got a voice messaging system. Our tour employee was great too. Hoping move in day and apartment living is just as good as all of our previous encounters.

Thank you so much for this feedback! We're so glad we can provide you with a great service even before move-in. We love that you've chosen South Duff as your home and can't wait to continue to provide an amazing experience for you come move-in!
This place is just absolutely the best, just the most amazing staff in the world!
This place has been a GREAT place to live! Living at South Duff has been an amazing experience. First off, the staff is beyond incredible, always friendly and is willing to help with any issue. Moving here I feel that staff has made an effort to get to know me not as just a resident, but as a friend! The maintenance crew is also awesome, you can put in a maintenance request and they will come within the next day to fix the problem. If you don't own a vehicle or just simply don't want to drive, they offer a shuttle service to their residents. Their property has a large space of grass to offer a recreational area and also includes a basketball court. Most apartments make owning a dog seem as an inconvenience, but the staff at South Duff made the process of registering a dog go very smoothly. Also owing a dog is great because there's a dog park right next to the apartments. The office then includes FREE printing which is always a bonus for any college student! They even have a game room that includes games such as, air hockey and ping pong. The apartments are incredibly spacious, affordable, and has fireplaces. Smart TVs are even included with every apartment! Furthermore, my favorite part of South Duff is definitely the friendly helpful environment. The office is always holding events for their residents, from a catered Thanksgiving meal to walking tacos during dead week. I would recommend this property to ANYONE that is looking! Thank you for this experience!
South Duff apartments are spacious, excellently maintained and managed by very friendly and professional staff. The shuttle service provided to ISU students as well as the club house with game room, computer lab, study rooms, kitchen and gym are a great addition to an already wonderful place to live. The activities put on by management to keep the community engaged provide for an atmosphere that makes all residents feel very much at home. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an excellent place to stay with highly competitive rates.
The south Duff apartments are beautiful apartments. I was able to heat my apartment in the winter with just the electric fireplace, and all together utilities are very cheap. Maintenance can be a little slow but get the job done. The office staff however are very unprofessional, they would always try and pawn you off to the next person, or they wouldn't even be there. They would be off shopping according to the other employees. Garages are nice, especially in the winter. Overall pretty good place to live, 4 stars.
I just moved into this apartment complex as of August 5th, 2015. It is a very pretty complex by them offering free parking, working out and tanning. The best part of the apartment is each room is clean and looking brand new when you move in. Its got a feel to it that reminds you of home. I'm a college student that could very well use free rent for a year.
