West Ashley sits within the city of Charleston and is west of the Ashley River, hence its name, and is the birthplace of Hootie & the Blowfish’s frontman, Darius Rucker. Lined with mossy oaks, the Ashley and Stono Rivers border West Ashley, creating the breathtaking scenery for which Charleston is known. West Ashley residents enjoy close proximity to the area's only indoor mall, the Citadel Mall, and a large number of big-box stores.
Situated seven miles due west of Downtown Charleston, residents can plan on a 15- to 30-minute drive, depending on traffic, to take in all downtown has to offer. Nearby Interstate 526, which feeds directly into Charleston’s Interstate Highway 26, gives residents a fast and easy route in and out of area. Mid- to late-1900s ranch-style homes characterize the housing in outer West Ashley, but neighborhoods built in the 2000s also sprinkle the area.

Property Ratings at The Jaunt
Living here was an awful experience from start to finish. Management is completely unresponsive; maintenance requests were ignored for weeks, if acknowledged at all. The laundry center, which is an extra cost each month, literally caught on fire. There was zero accountability or communication from the staff. The neighbors were loud, disruptive, and sketchy. Community noise rules are completely ignored, and management does nothing to enforce them. Police were in the complex multiple times throughout the year, which only added to the feeling of being unsafe and on edge. The internet connection was constantly unreliable, making remote work or even basic streaming a daily frustration. The entire complex feels unsafe and cheaply built. There's no real security presence, and it shows. Not requiring a security deposit might seem like a perk, but it's a major red flag. Despite leaving my apartment spotless, I was still charged unexpected fees after moving out. They take advantage of tenants on the way out. Bottom line: Do not live here. It's not worth the stress, the safety concerns, or the hidden costs.
Area is bad and management put a room as available then said it was not available a week before move in. They are clueless!! Price is cheap for a reason.

I've really liked it here! For the price it is great. Of course, it is older but it's also very homey. I have seen some reviews that made me nervous before moving but I have had no issue in my experience here. As long as you have proper upkeep like having little roach traps around you rarely see any bugs (something I've seen in a lot of other reviews). As someone born and raised here, it's just something you deal with in the South! I've also seen mention of different smells in the apartments, I've never had any but I've also cleaned my vents and like to have fresheners around. For the price and location the place is great
I'm excited to move into my new apartment. I looked all around the area and was very please with this location. The process was easy and smooth transition. I absolutely love Carlos he was very helpful and kind.
I would not recommend this place at all. There are cockroaches everywhere which they claim to spray for and charge you a monthly fee for and I never saw them spray (lived here for a year). Getting maintenance fix anything also took months (not an exaggeration) and often would be checked as fixed when clearly no one had come by. The washers and dryers were always broken and again never fixed. If you have any other option take that.

They claim to spray your apartment for roaches every Friday if you put in a request.. no one ever shows up..ever. So unless you want to live in a place that stinks and is over run with roaches then I suggest living anywhere else.
Been here since June and honestly it’s not that bad. It’s a get what you pay for kind of deal. The complex is older and the units show it especially in the bathroom and kitchen in the units that have not been renovated. I’ve had no major issues since moving in. Maintenance has been helpful and did what they could as soon as possible. Reviews of the place had me worried when I first got here but I’ve had no issues regarding safety or anything like that. It honestly does the job and it’s cheap so I really can’t complain.
Horrible experience in under 2 months, since day one. No cleaning crew. No pest control. Non-cooling HVAC that leaks everywhere, dead termites in light fixtures. Broken bathtub faucet. Broken door frame. No smoke detectors.
I moved-in last week and had a good experience. Shout-out to Lakisha and LaRon for making my move-in super easy. I haven't lived here long but so good so far.
