The university occupies the northeastern corner of the neighborhood and student housing in this area is plentiful. Cross Montezuma Road and head south toward El Cajon Boulevard to find a quieter, more suburban atmosphere. Here, palm-tree-lined streets curve past attractive ranch-style homes with landscaped yards.

Most of the shops and restaurants in the neighborhood are located along El Cajon Boulevard.
