The Gates - Student Housing

My child moved into the Gates Aug 2023 and shortly after, they lost the money order for the $610 that we paid for the move in fees. They acknowledged that they lost the money order, but the account balance shows that $610 is still owed. I talked to the office manager, and her boss Michelle as well, who refused to credit the account and was extremely unprofessional, not willing to acknowledge their mistake, or apologize for the ongoing issue. She even asked me if I had attempted to have the money order replaced, which although we did try, it's not our responsibility to fix their mistake. This has been ongoing for 10 months with no resolution. The apartments are not well maintained at all. My child's bedroom window is cracked, (broken glass) and has been broken for months, but has not been replaced or repaired. However, because the account shows a past due amount they promptly call every month asking for payment of the $610 THEY LOST. Unless you are willing to deal with unprofessional management, getting the run around, or waiting an extended time to have repairs completed, I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere.

The pictures and descriptions make this place look and sound a lot better than what it actually is. Very thin walls so you can hear everything going on at your neighbors apartment. Bedrooms are right across from each other with open vents on both bedrooms so you can also hear everything. No privacy. "Dog Park" is not maintained, dog poop everywhere around the apartments, and backyard area of the apartments has trees broken and on the side walk and a bunch of dead leaves everywhere. Looks good at first glance, but living here, you see everything wrong. Not to mention, very overpriced for rent, which does not include utilities.

I lived at the Gates for two years, I love the area that this apartment complex is at, I love the helpful staff and the fast maintenance team. Any questions I have the staff was there to help. I made the mistake of moving off of the property, Needless to say I will be moving back to the Gates as soon as my current lease is up. The inside of these apartments can't compare to anything around town , they are so nice, I love how it comes with everything I need. I would recommend this property to any of my family or friends.

The Gates is a fantastic student atmosphere, pricy but well worth it! I often visit with the staff and take advantage of the FREE snacks in the leasing office. I have lived at The Gates for two years. I enjoy the resident events and use the pool table in the clubhouse. The location to VSU is unmatched! Move Here!

It’s super dangerous. There is always people walking around our apartments. Someone was murdered three doors down from me. My roommates car just gotten broken into and it was the 7th car in this month. After all this it still doesn’t have cameras. Also, there’s no comet as to help solve any of these crimes. The management doesn’t even let you know when these crimes are happening so you have no reason to think you need be extra cautious until something happens to you! If I could get out of my lease I would! This has been the worst living experience I have ever had. Lastly, the ratings on other sites or not accurate because the management erases any negative post. This just shows how dishonest the management is. They are only worried about filling rooms.

I've been living at The Gates for a year and after 2 years at my previous apartment residence, this has truly been heaven. The staff is so professional. The apartments are affordable. Also, the environment is relaxing. My only complaint is the cable. There aren't many channels to choose from and any sign of rain the cable is out anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Other than that I've really enjoyed living at The Gates!
