Apartment Reviews at The Garratt by Cortland
I have LOVED my entire time living in Remington. The office staff have been a pleasure dealing with. Crystal, Lindsay and Marc are wonderful leasing consultants with a smile on their face every time I saw them. The maintenance crew is also wonderful and takes pride in their work. The renovations are BEAUTIFUL and I love what they have done with the community. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!
Remington has been great
I've been meaning to write to corporate about the property manager Max. Too often people are quick to write out bad events and not the great ones. Max and his team have been the single reason we won't go anywhere else. Max is always going out of his way to work with his tenants, trusting them, and solving problems fast. Not to mention he does stuff that doens't even pertain to his job. My wife and son were walking to the bus stop when it started drizzling. Max was driving around on the golf cart and lended them an umbrella and went on his way. Who does that!? Not many these days. He and his group have excellent customer service and I would recommend Remington Station to anyone.
Change Is Good!!
I've lived at Remington Station Apartments for 12 years now and have been through 4 companies who Owned and managed Remington Station. Even though I've been through 4 management companies, Cortland Partners are the first one who have been interested in trying to restore the complex to a safer and better rental complex. Any type of change is hard at first, but life is always changing. Even though I can't give Remington Station a 5 star rating righ now, I know it is coming because of all of the extensive remodeling and changes that are going to be happening. When you're going to put $35,000 into each individual unit, the residents cannot expect the rent to stay the same. When we found out our rent was going to go up almost $400, we went to other complexes we were interested in around the area and to our surprise, the rent in other complexes ranged $1300-$1600 per month for a smaller apartment, plus they were all squished together. At Remington Station, you feel like it's more like condos than being packed in a sardine can. I've spoken to the staff several times about the changes and especially the remodeling and they will be doing some extreme remodeling....not just painting here and there. Remodeling the inside and outside takes alot of time and effort. That old saying "you get what you pay for" is so true. I've been concerned about these apartments for a long time because no owners were putting any money into them. The office staff is super nice. I've spoken to Katie, Mariah, and Crystal who have tried to calm my fears and jitters about the change. Mariah has been super sweet and very cordial which I really appreciate, especially if I'm frustrated, irritated and scared about it all. None of us like change, but I'm looking at it as a fantastic opportunity to live in a great apartment community. Remington Station is going through growing pains right now, but the end result will be amazing!! I would recommend Remington Station 100%.
I love the location, size, and garages, and was okay with older apartments for a reasonable price. Now it is a construction zone, with no regard to current residents and increasing rent. Construction crew is awful. Moved patio furniture and personal items into weeds and have never moved them back. I have found 15-20 nails in the parking lot, sidewalks, and flower beds on different occasions. Grassy area, that has been promised as a dog park, is a construction holding area so kids/pets have no room to play. Yet they can't or won't fix problems where residents are currently living. It has been 3 months my chimney has been leaking, and have had soaked carpet. Multiple times have gone in, called, and emailed, but nothing has been fixed. Couldn't even schedule carpet cleaning correctly. Did not notify me in time for me to move my furniture out of the way. I don't get any response from maintenance or the property manager. I have no idea who the property manager is now, actually. I will be looking elsewhere this spring when my lease is up.
Inconsiderate and rude staff
Cortland property management company lied about losing leases, tried to jack the rent up by $600. Had to find a copy of my rental addendum and turn it in to have my rental agreement honored. Painted the parking lot with no notice, leaving cars unable to use garage or be towed at the own expense. Request for management calls are not returned and the staff is disrespectful. Gave a months notice and was told to be out the 25th of the same month, but expected to pay for a full months rent. Good luck to anyone who decides to move in. Terrible experience.
Don’t Move Here
My wife and I have lived at Remington Station for 2 years and, under previous management, would have given it a five star review. However, under the new management, Courtland, things have changed. Courtland has come in and done some renovations which have jacked up rent prices and priced out current tenants (ours would go up $300 a month if we signed a new lease) and their renovations have caused great inconveniences (we had to get a tire plugged because the workers who re-did the roof left nails in the road, I had a pair of shoes ruined because those they hired to paint the building left a puddle of paint in the grass by our apartment, and they allowed their workers to enter our apartment without our knowledge or permission to change windows). This past week we had a leak in our ceiling which destroyed our mattresses. Denise, the property manager, will not communicate with us despite us being without a bed to sleep on. When the ceiling was cut open there was a lot of mold. Would highly encourage you to look at Silvertree or fairway lakes if you’re looking in the Little Turtle area. Remington doesn’t work with or communicate with their tenants when there’s issues. For the price and service, there are much better apartment complexes in the Little Turtle area.
Flats do not have cement in between the two levels above them. Would live here for the rest of my life except for that fact. Management does not take into account who is moving above which can cause extreme stress for us b/c of the loud pounding all day and all night we hear from upstairs neighbors and kids. Plus takes months and major issues such as the ceiling caving in to get things fixed. Promised gift cards and cleaning to be done professionally and still not done. Terrible service based on promises with little to no fallow thru.
Terrible and unsafe place to live
A fire caused by a fireplace in a unit caused an entire row of homes to burn down because there are no fire walls! Kids treat the parking lot as their playground. Terrible management company! The leasing office never does anything to resolve issues. My car was damaged by the roofing company they hired. Leasing office said it was not Cortland’s responsibility to pay for damages. I had to pay for the repairs myself. Repairs for work requests are never done right. Several issues with entire property and the outside companies Cortland contracts to do work in the development. I CANNOT WAIT TO MOVE WHEN MY LEASE IS UP!
