Property Ratings at The Flats at Southwest Crossing
We have been living here for a year and a half with our 3 small children. The apartments are just okay. Maintenance has been quick to respond and help out with any problems so, that's good. Close to anything you need for shopping so that's also good. Downside: Management. Is. Terrible. They will not respond to emails until I start to get upset. I have complained multiple times about noise from an upstairs neighbor while they tell me, "It's out of our hands." Um, no. The cops have actually told me to keep letting the landlord know when I call about noise. They are the ones who have to deal with it. It's been going on for 5 months and they still haven't done anything about it. My husband had to go clear the parking lot because he had to call in for work. They don't do snow removal very well at all. We had to shovel our walkways and entryways and multiple neighbors were out clearing snow when, clearly, the management was not doing anything. This was 2 days after we received snow and it was clear. There is no playground/play area for kids. No lobby, gym, swimming pool, or covered parking. Also, there was another review that said the outside mess from construction was terrible and that is still the case. We find nails, screws, and painters tape on the doors and in the "grass." The landscaping is not very well handled and we were told that we would have grass in the summer. That didn't happen. We've also found syringes. Probably not a good thing for children or animals to find. Don't waste your sanity on the management here. You get what you pay for.
My husband and I have been living in the flats at Southwest crossing here in minot under IMM for nearly 3 months now. With the complex being a new construction, we were the first tenants in our unit, which is a great plus. However, the damage disclosure sheet we completed after move in had far too many items on it for it being brand new. The work was clearly sloppy, with chips in doors, windows frames, floor tiles, etc. There was even evidence of a patched hole in one of the walls! It's also frustrating that while construction seems finished (for now) there's been no cleanup of the exterior of the property. The stairs still have paper on them, they are splattered with paint. Two of our windows actually have paint on the exterior glass. Twice my mother has come to visit and each time she has been able to collect HAND FULLS of nails from the grounds of the property. As for the apartment itself, it does hAve a nice layout, although some of the spacing makes little sense. The front coat closet is very small (it also contains the water heater) there is no pantry to speak of, there is a small TINY closet in the hall that we use, leaving us no linen closet. But the first bathroom is ENORMOUS. For absolutely no reason. It's as if they originally intended to put the washer and dryer in that bathroom but changed their mind at the last minute. The master ensuite bath is a little small, about what I would expect the main guest bath to be. The only bad thing i have to say about the kitchen is that it lacks a garbage disposal. They attempt to market this complex as luxury but i would vehemently disagree. There are no assigned parking spots, which hasnt presented much of a problem since there are several open units still. But i hope we dont have issues come winter, as my husbands vehicle must be plugged in at night or it wont start. We may purchase a garage but for 100$ extra per month for a single stall! No thanks. The only other complaint I have is with the air conditioning, there is only one wall unit in the dining area, nothing for the bedrooms. My husband and I sleep with the unit set to high flow 68 degrees and sleep with out bedroom door open (quite an adjustment) and still need a bedside table fan. Overall I do like the apartment itself, though the complex is unkempt and looKS bad. Management and maintenance are a bit difficult to get ahold of.
