Offering an eclectic mix of historic and modern, Bala Cynwyd is a unique place -- starting with its unusual name and moving to its historic attractions and including its famous former residents (like basketball star Kobe Bryant). Bala Cynwyd was settled by Welsh Quakers in 1682. Originally, the settlement was called Pencoyd. Eventually, it transformed into two towns -- Bala and Cynwyd -- both named after places in Wales. The historic district wraps along Bala Avenue and Montgomery Avenue, providing quaint shops and restaurants along tree-lined streets.
The Cynwyd Heritage Trail provides residents with a two-mile, multi-use trail ideal for walking, bicycling, and cross-country skiing. The Arboretum of the Barnes Foundation, which covers 12 acres, is another terrific destination. This park dates back to 1880 and features a pond, a stream, a formal rose garden, and a greenhouse.

The Cynwyd is a Vibe! It’s a safe and secure environment to live in. Very welcoming, quiet, calm, respectful, family oriented and in a nice private area.
So far so good! We love living in this peaceful community. Amenities are good. Good neighbours. We appreciate that any maintainence request is responded to quickly by the management.
I’ve enjoyed living here; it’s well-maintained, quiet and mostly clean. The mail situation is a mess and I have lost 3 packages and the managers were not helpful or sorry. Also, sometimes tenants don’t pick up after their dogs. That’s annoying to those of us who don’t have dogs. The extra fees are very expensive. In general, it worked for me in the interim until I found a home.

tv's in club area don't work. fooseball table bars are backward. no light hand weights in fitness center.

New management has been great and uou can tell they are doing their best. As always, there are things to improve like trash recollection and the package room (that in all honesty should be a locker system instead). However the team do their best and have tried to bring the community together with different gatherings. I like it here.

My tour experience was great, I am glad to make this my new home and I can’t wait till summer time to get in the pool. One thing I like about this apartment is that it has free parking. Ms.Alex was really great, she showed me around the apartment, pool area, social area, etc. If anybody is looking for a place to move in THE CYNWYD IS THE PLACE!

Generally nice place to live. Front office turn over is frequent. Maintenance is good and responds quickly. Windows seem to leak. Could clean the carpets in the halls better. Package room is a nightmare...don't waste money having something shipped quickly. Pool doesn't open on Sundays until someone comes to work around 1:00. Outside is kept clean. Appliances are good.

The trash room and valet trash are a problem I would prefer to not pay for this serious because I continually have to deal with my own trash. There are always trash bags left in the hallway after supposed pick up and the trash room is always full. The hallways smell of trash
I have enjoyed my time living at The Cynwyd. Management does their best to fix anything that is within their control and keep the property in good conditions.
Great place. Building is wonderfully equipped and maintained! I love it here!
I would not recommend The Cynwyd to anyone. For months, the apartment has failed to properly collect trash in the building, resulting in the accumulation of rodents and flies. In addition, partying is rampant, and the apartment is not properly insulated, resulting in our of control energy bills in the summer months. Despite these issues, the apartments charges rates that are at the high-end of--or exceed--those charged in Philadelphia and the management is incredibly inflexible when seeking modifications to lease terms or conditions. Stay away.
New, clean building with a great location right next to City Ave.
Beautiful apt, great amenities, and staff. Biggest issue - the walls here are extremely thin. The apt literally shakes with each heavy footstep , the constant sound of doors and cabinets closing, thuds and banging noises, moderately loud conversations can be heard clearly from the apt upstairs .I can hear everything! Staff has been great about asking tenant upstairs to keep the noise down however I'm now at the point of accepting there's nothing that can be done it's just the way the building is made, there is no soundproofing applied in between the units. My friend couldn't believe how loud the sounds of stomping and talking echo through the unit. The building is new and there are still plenty of vacant apts , as the building starts to fill up I'm sure this won't be the only review about it . For the amount of money it costs to rent an apt here if the sound of constant stomping is an issue for you this isn't the place for you. Unfortunately I won't be renewing my lease .
