Downtown Rochester straddles the Genesee River, wrapped by the semi-circle formed by the Inner Loop and I-490. This is the hub for business, entertainment, and culture. Rochester is home to Eastman Kodak, Frontier Communications, Bausch and Lomb, and Xerox; it is also the location of the historic Geva Theatre Center, the Strong Museum, and the legendary Eastman Theatre. And while you'll see plenty of skyscrapers and busy streets, Downtown Rochester is also beautiful -- amazing views of the river, public artwork, and historic architecture blend to create a photo-worthy neighborhood.
Your Downtown Rochester apartment will provide short -- most likely walkable -- commutes, easy access to mass transit, and amazing museums, shops, theaters, sports arenas, and restaurants. Several parks are also located in the neighborhood, providing peaceful green space in the heart of this urban setting.

Property Ratings at The Columbus Building
This place doesn’t care about there tenants and only want there money. They don’t offer help when they should be helping with certain things for example the AC since there is no central air in the building. There isn’t anywhere safe to park my car has been broken into as well as other tenants multiple times. The laundry situation is horrible and doesn’t work at all it’s bad and will mess up your clothes. Emergency maintenance doesn’t respond in an emergency time stamp. My floor completely flooded and they didn’t respond until about a hour later. You will have issues once you start living here but they get you with the location because that is what you are really paying for. And you have to pay extra to park in there parking lot, even though it is a high risk parking lot. Don’t move here it’s better lofts being built in Rochester THATS WORTH THE MONEY. Please be advised as well I have let them know about these issues multiple times as well via phone and email. They never are willing to take accountability for there lack of professionalism and hospitality for their residents. 3 people on my floor are moving and within the building because the lack there of doesn’t meet the needs of what we are paying for.

Hi, Diamond. We take all feedback seriously and strive to address issues promptly. After reviewing your concerns, we have taken steps to ensure improvements and have reached out to address items that we were not aware of. For prospective residents, we encourage you to visit us and see firsthand the quality of our community. Many of our tenants have enjoyed long-lasting and positive relationships with us.
I’ve been here since last September and absolutely cannot wait to leave. Upon signing the lease I was told they were very pet friendly and dog friendly (with restrictions that were clear and understood) and in November when we went to get the forms to adopt our dog, we were told they no longer allowed dogs and that any dogs in the building were grandfathered in but no more were allowed. Since then I have seen multiple week or month-old puppies in the building, meaning that statement was false or only applicable to us. We were given 3 emails to reach management and not a single one gets a response. So we emailed one of the lease consultants directly and were told to stop as we were “harassing” them. The lobby constantly smells like sewage and the alarm system goes off for hours at a time multiple days a week. The building is 12 floors and has a total of 3 working washing machines, and even after multiple work requests, it hasn’t changed since we moved in. Some of our work requests have even been closed out as “resolved” without anything ever having been done. The AC machines smell rancid when they run and the radiators turn on late in the winter and turn off very early into the spring, making the temperatures in the units very inconsistent and uncomfortable. The toilets run constantly and can be heard from other apartments, so we hear every flush and shower that our upstairs and next door neighbors make. They’ve been “working” on the elevators for 8 months and only one of the two of them is working still. Our cars were broken into multiple times on the street right outside the door. Please save yourself a lot of pain and trouble and DO NOT live at the Columbus building.

Hello, Megan. Due to the nature of your concerns, we think it would be best if we spoke with you directly. Please stop by our office at your earliest convenience so we can discuss these claims. We look forward to speaking with you soon. -The Team at The Residences at the Columbus Building
The apartments themselves are fine. But be prepared to deal with useless management. The heat in the winter is only turned on when it’s less than 32 degrees outside, and when I asked them to fix it they didn’t reply and simply put a work order in for a “broken radiator”. The radiator isn’t broken, they don’t turn the heat on! There are 2 elevators in the building and only one of them works. That elevator breaks every other month, so be prepared to walk up 12 flights of stairs! They constantly lie and say things are going to be improved and proceed to never change anything. All they care about is locking you into a lease, and when you’re in they do nothing but the bare minimum. Worst apartment complex I’ve ever lived in.

While we appreciate all feedback we receive, we are very disheartened by what you have mentioned here. We want to assure you that our team cares about each of our residents and strives to provide them with the best possible service. We hope to have the opportunity to speak with you about your concerns directly. Please stop by our office or give us a call at (585) 454-5440. Thank you.
Despite continual assurances that pest control has taken care of the insect problems, large cockroaches keep crawling out of my (and my neighbors') drains. We have to keep them closed at all times. Whenever I try to approach the staff with problems (e.g. cockroaches, issues with key fob access, problems with parking), they are unhelpful, unresponsive, and often rude. Constant construction and renovation in the building also means loud noises, dirty common areas, and frustratingly frequent changes to building policies. This property is not worth the price, by any stretch of the imagination.
