West Ashley sits within the city of Charleston and is west of the Ashley River, hence its name, and is the birthplace of Hootie & the Blowfish’s frontman, Darius Rucker. Lined with mossy oaks, the Ashley and Stono Rivers border West Ashley, creating the breathtaking scenery for which Charleston is known. West Ashley residents enjoy close proximity to the area's only indoor mall, the Citadel Mall, and a large number of big-box stores.
Situated seven miles due west of Downtown Charleston, residents can plan on a 15- to 30-minute drive, depending on traffic, to take in all downtown has to offer. Nearby Interstate 526, which feeds directly into Charleston’s Interstate Highway 26, gives residents a fast and easy route in and out of area. Mid- to late-1900s ranch-style homes characterize the housing in outer West Ashley, but neighborhoods built in the 2000s also sprinkle the area.

Worst place I have ever lived in... I was so disheartening how inconsiderate this place is especially during renovations. They only care about who signs leases but once you're a resident there, your concerns are not met ever

The property is conveniently located by major grocery stores and shops but it is poorly managed. There was a lot of turnovers with the front desk, staff members do not introduce themselves, were not properly trained in procedures and despite stopping by multiple times to confirm my move-out details, they had no awareness of my moving out, and ended up charging extra rent. There was frequently overflowing trash and dog poop. The neighborhood nearby is unsafe and often has loud parties going on.

Choosing to live here was a very easy decision, the apartments are great sizes and come with balconies. There is always parking available, front door trash service, and the staff is great!

Great, quiet community. Everyone from the neighbors to the staff are very friendly. Nice amenities. Apartments are updated and modern. Only small complaint is if you have a noisy neighbor, you can definitely hear them through the walls.

The Ashley nickel and dimed us for every penny we are worth. Do not fall for the $100 "community fee". They had the audacity to charge us .16 cents for one days worth of "trash collection" the day AFTER we turned in our keys. They'll come in and fix your apartment issues while you're a resident there for no charge, but if you don't put in a work request they'll charge you once you move out. Fees left and right and disorganization. Was charged $15 multiple times every month due to a paperwork issue caused by the main office. Shotty security that allows teens and college kids to run the pool at all hours of the night. Lots of canceled and half-put-together events. Do NOT recommend.

Moved in recently on 15 Aug 2019, a great spacious apartment and a very satisfying staff who has maintained the property well. Lively neighborhood and prime location in West Ashley is a bonus.

I've loved living here. Every day I'm glad that this is where I'm coming home to. After having bad experiences living in two other complexes, we have been really pleased with the service we've received and community we've found in the Ashley.

By far the nicest apartment complex is West Ashley. Solid location, top notch amenities, and fair priced. The Ashley team is awesome- both the leasing and maintenance employees are always so kind and happy to help with any issues. My one gripe (a small one) is pulling in/out of the complex can be tricky at times, as the area can get pretty congested during rush hour. Overall, would definitely recommend living here.

I absolutely love living at the Ashley. It is clean, well maintained, and comfortable. The addition of the dog park has been great for my pup! My apartment is new, with good quality appliances and finishes. The parking is open and readily available. The staff is absolutely amazing. They are so friendly, and accommodating. They even checked on my apartment multiple times for me when I was traveling for a month during the Winter. I love living here!

I cannot say enough positive things about The Ashley, and the professional staff that assisted with my leasing process. Moving from Kansas created some difficulties with deciding on a place to live, but after an in-depth conversation with Ruthann and her ability to go above and beyond to serve her residents, I knew I chose the right place to call home. Uprooting my life from the Midwest and coming to Charleston was difficult, but calling The Ashley home made the process abundantly smoother. The property is absolutely amazing, the floor plans and finishes inside the apartment are spectacular, and I know I made the right choice in moving to Charleston. Thank you to Ruthann and Megan for making such an accommodating place for me to call home!
