True to its name, the Historic Mitchell Street neighborhood has a storied history in Milwaukee and is anchored by its namesake corridor. Once known as the “Downtown of Milwaukee’s South Side,” Historic Mitchell Street has a long history of being one of Milwaukee’s premier commercial thoroughfares. Today, the neighborhood is filled with western wear stores, cultural shops, diverse eateries, and more.
Brightly colored murals and historic architecture line the streets, including manufacturing buildings that have been converted to loft apartments, mixing modern flair with historic flavor. There are a variety of affordable to upscale apartments and condos available for rent in Historic Mitchell Street so there is something for everyone. Although the neighborhood is filled with amenities, residents appreciate living near Downtown Milwaukee, which is just five miles away.

Property Ratings at The Alexander Lofts
doesn't respond to calls text to scheduled appointments. Bad professional ethics came from out of town
I was communicating with the property, asking for information and setting up a virtual appointment to tour the property. When I gave them my boyfriend's information so they could send a virtual invite to him as well (since he would be out of town), they stopped responding to me and would only communicate with him. Felt a little sexist.
I love living at Alexander Lofts! They’re affordable, the high ceilings make the place feel so spacious, and the huge windows are beautiful. Not only that, but everyone in the building is so kind, it’s a quiet environment, and clean! I also love how it’s located near so many awesome restaurants and bars! There’s always something new to try out. Definitely recommend! :)
I would highly recommend living here. Beautiful kitchen, spacious bathrooms, high lofty ceilings. Great location and gym and laundry room located in the building!
I’ve only been here almost 3 months and I can say I’m impressed with what I seen so far. Right choice for me .
I just recently moved here and my dog Pluto and I LOVE it(:. maintenance is very nice and quick! Beautiful lofts and up to date appliances! Onsite Laundry is easy and lots of washers and dryers. I like the use of the fob to get into the building and other places such as private storage unit and garbage room! Excited to spend time making memories here!
Good: The apartments are gorgeous and the neighbours are super friendly. The Maintenance team is top notch and always eager to fix whichever area needs the repair. The time between a request and service is always short, which is refreshing compared to other places I have lived at prior. They also have a nice gym, with both a cardio stations and weight lifting stations. The apartments have multiple common rooms with TV's, video games, and kitchen areas. Some units have washers and dryers but a laundry room is available for units without. The entrance is secured and requires a building key fob to enter. Bad: Location, location, location. The Lofts are located in a bad part of town. Though the area is undergoing a series of revitalization projects, safety is still a big concern. The apartments do not have an enclosed parking garage and I have seen at least 10 cars that were broken into/vandalized over the past year. Robberies and gun violence are also common in the area; though bad things can happen anywhere, the crime rate is specifically high in this location.
The management is horrible at this property. We never see the property manager and she never fixs anything. The only reason I rented with them is because the old leasing agent said it was a good place to live, but it got so bad for her she quit. This apartment is not worth the cost save your money and go elsewhere!
