With the Kennebec River flowing throughout the town, Maine’s capital Augusta is a rural locale filled with history. In 1628, English settlers from Plymouth Colony used the capital city as a trading post. Dedicated to preserving the state’s history, many of the activities revolve around celebrating the past. Visit the Old Fort Western, America’s oldest surviving wooden fort where Benedict Arnold attempted to capture Quebec during the American Revolution. The fort hosts history reenactments and other themed events year-round. You can even learn about time gone by in Museum in the Streets, a seasonal tour where informational signs are installed at the sites. Augusta is also home to the University of Maine at Augusta, giving this city the feel of a small college town.
Enjoy the lush nature this small town offers by visiting the Pine Tree State Arboretum, a 224-acre park and botanical garden perfect for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Summerhaven Apartments
The point person Melissa was extremely helpful in providing information and availability of these apartments. When I moved in I found a clean apartment. Refrigerator was like new. Bathroom was clean. The place is as described, surrounded by woods and trees and country road. It is very quiet and I have some friendly neighbors. The cost is affordable. I have a nice one bedroom and I am comfortable and have no regrets living here. There is extra storage and shared laundry on the first floor.
