Property Ratings at Stoney Creek Highlands
I moved in after COVID and it was the best apartment complex I have ever lived in. Maintenance staff was incredible and as were the staff in the office. The complex was purchased by new owners a couple of years ago and basically everything has gone down hill. Snow removal is nonexistent, the mail system is a joke. They nickel-and-dime you for everything now. It’s no longer the nice complex it once was. There’s not many options in Rapid but if you can find something else I would recommend it. Not worth the money any longer, and it’s sad.
We will become residents this weekend. We are relocating from Illinlis. I can not give the wonderful staff of this complex enough praise. They have gone above and beyond to answer all of our questions and make this move as easy as possible. We are excited to become residents of this beautiful complex and look forward to meeting others.
I've lived at Stoney Creek Highlands for about 2 months now. This is my first time living in an apartment complex and it's gone better than I could have expected. There are so many amenities for residents as well as multiple community events each month where they serve dinner or treat us to ice cream. The three individuals in the office have been incredibly kind, helpful, and clearly take their jobs and the residents' satisfaction seriously. :) As far as apartments go, this one has an outside entrance to each apartment with only 5 other apartments close enough to see your neighbors consistently. It's quiet, calm, and I've enjoyed it so much.
Waited 3 weeks to get denied over a petty misdemeanor charge from over 7 years ago…..like really. It’s also more expensive to apply than any other apartments around here. Super disappointing we had to wait this long

I have lived here for a year and a half and love it! It’s very quiet and I rarely hear my neighbors. People that live here are friendly and the staff is friendly as well.
Living here at Stoney Creek Highlands is like living surround by friends and family. The grounds are well maintained. Any time I have had a maintenance issue they are quick to take care of it. The office staff are always friendly and helpful. The apartments themselves are well maintained and clean. They usually have monthly social events for the community which my family enjoys. We have lived here about two years now and are happy with to be here.
The office staff are always friendly and helpful. Maintenance requests are taken care of fairly quickly. The maintenance staff are always nice to my son who's three and doesn't understand personal space yet. The office puts on monthly events in the clubhouse for residents which are a lot of fun. We have lived here for a couple of years and haven't had any issues. Definitely a great place to live.
We chose to relocate to Rapid City upon retiring. Prior to our move, we took a road trip to explore Rapid City and The Black Hills and search for a suitable two-bedroom apartment. While there were numerous apartment complexes in Rapid City, none had quite captured our attention until our last day before heading home when we stumbled upon Stoney Creek Highlands. Stoney Creek Highlands proved to be the perfect fit for us. The pricing was just right, the apartment layout was ideal, and the availability of garages was essential for our needs. The office staff exhibit exceptional friendliness and a strong commitment to accommodate their residents. They are highly responsive and go out of their way to assist residents promptly. Notably, maintenance requests are addressed on the same day, which greatly contributes to our satisfaction. To our pleasant surprise, they even offer free notary services, saving us from potential expenses. The grounds at Stoney Creek Highlands are very well maintained and astonishingly quiet; you can hear a pin drop at night. We have now been delighted residents for over six months, and our decision to make this our home has proven to be a wise one.
We have been living here for 2.5 years. It is quiet and pet friendly, and the residents and staff are great. We love the parcel pending lockers and the fact that they have a ton of social events. The maintenance staff are friendly, and the few times we have needed their help, we have not had to wait more than a day to get the issue handled. We love living here.
My family and I have lived at Stoney Creek since late 2019-a little over four years now. Our immediate thoughts when we came across the ads were that the property grounds and the living spaces were well-maintained, and had a modern/updated feel and appearance to them. We were also surprised to know that a washer and dryer came pre-installed INSIDE the units, which we weren't accustomed to from previous apartments we've stayed in. My family and I also enjoy taking advantage of the gazebo area with the grill, the pool, the kids playground, and the walking areas when the weather is nice out. There's also a dog park, but we've never used it as we don't have a dog. The original office staff that were employed here when we first moved in has since changed, but the service and professionalism has been consistent throughout our years here. They're always attentive and willing to help with whatever matter or issue we're having. Although we rarely participate, they are constantly hosting morale/community events to foster a welcoming and friendly community for the tenants. Some examples include their movie nights, food truck nights, offering free ice cream or hotdogs and hamburgers by the pool, or just recently their pumpkin carving social. The maintenance personnel have always been great at what they do and go out of their way to ensure our living space is maintained and every issue we have is fixed ASAP. For example, we had a recurring issue with our water heater that they've come out to fix promptly every time. When the property switched to updated heaters, they made sure that we were the first tenants to get ours replaced due to the history which shows that they track those things and plan around them (proactive vs reactive). They're also on top of other things like snow removal and sprinkling ice melt on the roads and walkways so tenants can safely come and go as they please when we have heavy snowfall. I work at the Air Force base which is a good 20-30min drive each way based on the road conditions and traffic. It'd be so much easier and cheaper for me to move out and live somewhere closer, or even move on base, but we can't complain about Stoney Creek Highlands at all. All of the staff, amenities, the property, our unit (2B, 2B), and the location are great for us and we can't imagine going through all the trouble of moving just to go somewhere else that is worse. I highly recommend giving this property a chance if you're looking for a place to call home.
It is difficult to find affordable living in SW side of Rapid City with the views you will get here. We just moved in but have been happy with the accommodations. We have two smaller children who have felt like the apartment is homey!
The staff is friendly, maintenance is very timley with reparis, and the grounds are very well kept. Also located in a good area of Rapid and plenty of convenience to stores close by.

Stoney Creek has a wonderful staff who are helpful and friendly. We enjoy all of the amenities and the clubhouse is wonderful. Packages are easy to get and the maintenance team is very helpful. We love it there!
Staff is great, they answered all my questions. My apartment has a homey feel to it, unlike the last apartment, and great amenities.
The apartment I lived in on the third floor was beautiful! The staff was very friendly and professional. The internet options in this location are also great (I chose Vast). There is also an option for packages (below a certain size) to be delivered and stored in secure electronic lockers. Please consider renting a garage as well because this region of the US has frequent hail storms during certain months and it can and will damage your vehicles significantly! I had to leave to live closer to a new job and I miss Stoney Creek Highlands every day.
My aging dad stayed here for 3 years til he had to go to assisted living. They were always so helpful. Maintance was prompt and great. He had a bottom apartment because he couldn't do stairs. The apartments are beautiful and dad was super happy living there. I highly recommend it and I am so thankful for all their help at helping dad stay there for 3 years.
Management does absolutely nothing about noise except to retaliate against the person reporting the noxious noise.
Moved from Colorado Springs to Rapid City this last Janurary to retire and continue my healthy lifestyle. I have lived on the same luxury apt property in Colorado for over 15yrs and know what to look for in a property.My total rating for a Griffis property in Colorado Springs was C . Stoney Creek Highlands(Quality of staff quality of residents and background check A ,Apt size and amenitys, water heater and placement, heating and cooling systems,insulation and heat and cool retention A,Grounds keeping, maintenance, and pet pickup A,building to building closeness in respect to fire safety A, Access to shopping and recreational activity B ,maintenance issues and response time after reporting issue A ,security and property safety 24hrs a day A,trash pickup and postal service A. I live on the 3rd floor and have total privacy and peace and quiet. The residents around me share this mindset. I believe l am starting to see a trend here. Its no wonder why the staff here keep getting the highest apt magazine ratings year after year after year. This property gives the resident a great living experience day after day after day. I've rented in both Rapid City and the Denver area and Stoney Creek Highlands is the best experience I've had. The rent is reasonable and the office staff is wonderful! A wonderful place to live.
My husband, daughter and I lived there for 2.5 years and moved when we bought a house. We loved our apartment and the Stoney Creek community. My daughter loved trekking to the playground every day and going to the pool in the summer. The management is friendly and knew us by name. All maintenance requests were handled efficiently. The other tenants were quiet. We were on a ground floor apartment and only rarely heard the tenants above us. We loved the walking path around the complex and were on it most days. I don't usually write reviews but we enjoyed our time there and want to encourage others to rent at Stoney Creek.
It's a pretty quiet apartment complex that has all the amenities you would ever need. The pool and hot tub are great and never really over crowded. The fire place and big grill you can use by the pool are great as well for having get togethers. The rooms are all insulated well and you don't hear your neighbors. Nice open floor plan for having people over. The granite counter tops are a nice touch and are easy to keep clean. The decks are big enough for a grill and chairs to relax out on when the weather is nice. Among many other great perks of living here. Would recommend to anybody looking for a nice, quiet, and great place to live.
My husband and I moved for his health and needed a place in 2 weeks do to a job offer I had. We moved from a house in Western NY to Rapid city, SD in a 2 week period. We rented the apartment site unseen (kinda scary). Once we arrived and saw the place we new it was for us. The people here are terrific and will go out of the way to get to know you. The apartments each have there own entrances so no hallways and the apartments are so very well insulated that you do not even know there are people right next to you or above you. The maintenance crew is incredible and if you have any issues (even tiny ones)they are there quickly. After 2 years now we have decided that we would like to stay here and enjoy all the benefits Stoney Creek Highlands Apartments offers including special treats like donuts on National Donut day for example that they actually hand you as you leave for work.
Stoney Creek Highlands in Rapid City, SD has been the best apartment rental experience in my life time thus far. Upon move-in I felt the apartment was maintained in almost new condition. Any maintenance issues are handled timely. The only complaint I've expressed which was not resolved, concerned residents not picking up after their pets. The office is also frustrated about how to cure this concern unless I identify the pet owners.
