The whole neighborhood turns out for University of Alabama game days, often stopping at Baumhower's Restaurant to grab some wings to enhance the festivities. The university's presence, just to the west of East Tuscaloosa, gives parts of the neighborhood a college town feel.
With the Black Warrior River outlining the northern edge of East Tuscaloosa, residents of this neighborhood have easy access to whitewater paddling, fishing, and strolling along the beautiful river's banks. Residents enjoy shopping at the University Mall, anchored by Sears and JCPenney.

Property Ratings at Stone Creek
The apartment is spacious, yet the appliances are old. The countertops stain very easy, the walls are thin and you can hear just about anything your neighbors are saying or doing. The two people in the front office aren’t very helpful at all. The maintenance crew here sucks, they take forever to fix things when you call. Whenever they do fix them they don’t fix them right. When we moved in half of the wall outlets in the entire apartment didn’t work, the carpet had a stain in it. Whenever we leave and come back you can smell the weed that our neighbors are smoking in our apartment. There’s a state trooper who stays here who is very useless, he hogs parking spots like he owns the entire complex. The night security guard takes his job way too serious. Overall don’t come here, you’ll just be wasting your money. Find some where else to stay, if you can’t then I’d say make this your last resort.
The staff has always been pleasant and the facilities are well-maintained. Mostly, I appreciate how diligent the nightly courtesy officer is. I lived at my previous apartment for 2 years and only saw the night patrol officer a handful of times. At Stone Creek, the I see the officer just about every night, and when I don't see him patrolling I know I can find him at the main building or at the other end of a quick phone call. Its a simple thing that goes a long way toward making me feel safe and cared about at Stone Creek.
Even though the apartment is reasonably spacious, there is very little if any soundproofing in between the upper and lower apartments leaving the downstairs primarily subject to excessive noise. The appliances are plain, aging and basic. The kitchen counters are not sealed properly and they stain very easily. Proper care and attention is not given by management and staff to ensure the quality and cleanliness of an apartment before new tenants move in. The office manager and staff are not very helpful are rude and condescending. The apartment grounds are plain except for the entrance and around the office which are pleasantly decorated. It is a great shame that this level of care was not transposed throughout the rest of the complex. The buildings themselves are colorless and unremarkable with one looking just the same as the others.
