I haven’t been here long less than 2 months and I’m already in the process of terminating my lease. This place has bugs everywhere, I’ve put in for a service request weeks ago no one has bothered to fulfill the request. The other tenants here steal pretty much everywhere and anything they can get their hands on. So please do not order DoorDash, instacart or from Amazon because your things will get taken. there are no sense of cameras within the building so there’s no security. The other tenants here are odd and believe that they can come directly into your apartment without your knowledge. As well as the stinching smell of cigarette smoke, loud neighbors yelling and fighting in the hallways. The elevator itself is not safe, it’s broken down quite a few times within the 1-2 months that i have been here. Please save yourself the headache
Let me start by explaining why I have live in 3 different properties at Village Green of Southgate. It's safe to raise a family or to live as a single, affordable and they have the friendliest professional staff including management that I have interacted with. My reasons for moving 3 times were for upgrading or more space. I started with a one bedroom maybe 600 ft apartment with all utilities included. Two years later, I realized that I need more space and wanted to stop paying for storage up the street. So, I move into a spacious one bedroom with maybe double the footage a couple buildings over. Paying some utilities with a clean laundry room located on site without leaving out of the building. Well, I am a shopaholic as they know because they will sign for deliveries not having the risk of it being stolen. Once again, I realized that I needed more space to accommodate my habits Lol. So, I recently moved into a townhouse. I absolutely love my 3 level house with all appliances included yes washer and dryer too. Although I am no longer in one of their apartments. I still have access to all of the wonderful amenities here such as community room or as I call it. An over sized cozy loving room with a huge updated flat screen TV, comfortable beautiful furniture, pool table and computer station. There is a community hall that can be rented out. I still use the fitness center with a dry sauna and whirlpool that only the residence have the pleasure of using because it is lock and you must have a key to gain entrance as a safety feature once the staff or leasing office has closed. Not to mention the gorgeous clean outdoor pool area with a newly granite top BBQ grill that we can use. With plenty of sitting furniture as well. Finally, Village Green of Southgate has made me feel that I am apart of the family. I haven't had an issues and very small maintenance concerns that were handled in a timely manner. I also love that they do give back to the residence via different incentives for paying your rent on time, giving different holiday functions for kids and or adults. Free movie night in the cozy over sized living room with food, drinks or snacks. I love, love living and being apart of Village Green Apartments of Southgate Community. As I have told them (the staff) I will be here until I die or get married one.

The staff are friendly and understanding. Maintenance are timely and convenient. The apartments are really nice with spacious closet/linen areas. Neighborhood is quiet. And they are pet friendly. I love my new home. Heard. 2/7/19
Cornelius was such a huge help and was so patient with helping me get into the right apartment... I felt so bad because I changed my mind 3 times. He and all of the office staff have such a positive attitude it just wears off & a person can’t help but feel relaxed!!! I live in the Towers, my neighbors are quite, friendly & respectful of one another. My appointment has newer updated appliances, The bathroom is beautiful, everyone so far that’s come in to help me move has commented on how nice the apartment is.

Lived here for 4 months and I'm on the 3rd floor, the elevator has been broken 4 times for 1 to 2 days at a time. And I'm really coming here to say that this complex had BED BUGS!!! Never in my 10 years of renting have I had a problem with bed bugs until i came here 4 months ago. Instead of bombing the building they only spray infected rooms. I got a look at their list when they wrote my room number down and there were 10 for the month that had bed bugs!! I also have...MICE!!!!! What a lovely surprise. I cannot wait to be out of my lease.

Just recently moved out after 4 years of living at this community. Never had any problems in my apartment and my apartment over looked the pool, so it was perfect for the summer time. Staff was always friendly and helpful when I went into the office with questions. I'd absolutely recommend this place if you're in the market for affordable great living!

Village green is ideal for a rental apartment. My apartment is huge, my rent is fair. Great storage and updated fixtures. Very pet friendly and accommodating, literally all my neighbors have dogs. Good outdoor spaces within the apartment community. Jason in the office is wonderful to work with. He will go the extra mile to help out either it being going on apartment tours, signing your lease , to answering questions. Only downfalls to the place is the ammenities such as the hot tub are not greatly maintained and there are only 2 washers & dyers per building.

I went there last weekend to view an apartment. When I got there, I was never welcomed, they didn't show me anything, not even the complex. It was a complete waste of time. The employee who "took care" of me didn't want to move out of his chair. It was extremely frustrating and a HUGE waste of time. Customer services SUCKS!

This is by far the worst apartment complex I've ever lived in for one reason: they constantly send maintenance into your apartment at early hours of the morning. I work the graveyard shift and get home at 7am. Their maintenance crew always shows up between 8-9am, waking me out of a freshly obtained and much needed sleep. This has happened FIVE times, twice without any more than 24 hours notice - often I didn't find out until I got home from work and realized they'd be here in a couple hours when all I wanted to do was fall asleep. THIS IS INACCEPTABLE. I know you have to repair your units but these repairs have all been unneccesary - replacing a window that was perfectly find, doing "moisture readings", one time they woke me up so they could touch up ONE TINY spot of drywall they forgot to patch the morning before. I have never lived in an apartment where this happens. In fact I've only had an apartment maintenance crew ask for permission into my apartment at one other complex - and even then they showed up at a reasonable time (1pm).

I LOVE MY APARTMENT HOME. I've been living at VG of Southgate for the past year and a half and with my lease coming up for renewal, I have been looking around just to make sure I was getting the best bang for my buck. After doing my research and actually going to a couple other places, I've decided that I am not going to move because I truly am getting more than what I am paying for. The office staff has always been helpful and is willing to go above and beyond for their tenants. I highly recommend this place to call home.

I've never been anything but disappointed in this complex. It's always filthy, there's mold in the lobby vestibule, many of the windows throughout are broken and stuck open. There has also been a disabled smoke alarm on both the 2nd and 4th floors that have been that way for over a year, after many MANY attempts to have maintaince fix them. I know these are lower-cost apartments, but parts are becoming unsafe. While the staff is always friendly, they never respond to maintenance requests, phone calls, and ALWAYS close the office much earlier than the time displayed. This is especially frustrating when you cannot load money onto the laundry card when they are closed--a laundry card they MAKE you use, that will not accept dollar bills and has a limit of $20 per time. Extremely disappointed in both these apartments and the company in general. Tried to reach out to staff MANY times with reasonable requests, such as the smoke alarm and a non-working heating unit in November. Will not be renewing the lease.

We do take any reported maintenance concerns inside our resident’s apartments and in the shared, common areas very seriously, respond swiftly and professionally, and work with our residents to ensure all work is completed to satisfaction. We will work to address the concerns with the smoke alarms in the buildings immediately. We also do respond to any reports of heat outages and consider them an emergency with the temperatures outside are below 55 degrees for multiple days. Village Green of Southgate does not close the office unless it is a specified holiday or it is after business hours. If you find the office closed during normal business hours, it may be due to us being out on the property with a potential resident, and we return and open the office back up after each tour is completed. We do apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced with your laundry card, and would like to work with you help address this concern. Since shopping for apartments in the downriver area, I have come across MANY disturbing reviews as well as personally seen some disturbing and down right nasty things. Fountain Park's were OK, until I personally seen 2 drug deals go down in BOTH North and South. When I questioned the consultant about the activities there, their response was " You will see that anywhere you go". Ummmm No, not where I will be living with my children, absolutely not. My friend made me aware of the Fire at Pennbrooke, and I myself knew the REAL story on the "fire" (Which should be legally disclosed to the public due to hazardous conditions aka drug lab). My last visit was to Village green of Southgate west. While they were LOVLEY, they were WAY to expensive, and I was referred here. NOW this is what I call value. Fitness Center, Hot tub, Sauna, Business center, FREE Party room for my children, and a well established demographic (from what I could see). My move in experience was extremely pleasant, as well as the office staff. They even offered me money for anyone I got to move in!!! How cool is that! I have recommended this place to all of mine and my husbands friends!

I have lived in the Towers for almost a year and will not hesitate to renew my lease. Like any apartment community, it's not perfect. But the office staff is great and they are making improvements to the complex. Maintenance is a bit slow to respond and the common areas in the Towers needs renovation but the apartments themselves are quite comfortable and a good value. In my year here, I have seen management working at making things better for residents. They are on an upward trajectory. I am glad to live here and would recommend it to others.
