Southfield Apartments

Lived here for four years and never had working air-conditioning. They would just keep filling up with Freon and never fixing the issue. The washer and dryers never worked so I would have to take it to a laundromat. You can’t get a hold of their maintenance or any of the office people. They keep the doors locked, so good luck trying to get in. They randomly add prices to rent without explanation. I moved out two years ago and they hit my credit for an unpaid balance. Work with their lawyers and resolved the issue. They are still trying to come after me for money. Avoid this place at all cost!

My roommate and I lived in Southfield for 4 years. They ignored ceiling issues through all of our leases even though it was documented with pictures and in email. They offered to let residents use deposit as rent credit without having to pay it back because of rent increases but upon moving out they considered things like painting as “damages” instead of normal wear and tear and charged double the deposit.(over 2,000 upon moving out) they also let us choose our accent wall color when we moved in, so this would need to be repainted anyway, but just know when you leave they’ll accuse you of damages for having to repaint this wall. Very dishonest. We included our laundry card and mail keys upon leaving and they charged us for the laundry card anyway, but somehow got the keys that were in the package together. They don’t answer phone calls and are not usually available to help tenants. Amenities are outdated and half the laundry room only works some of the time and it’s on you to call the help number if the machines aren’t working. I’ve heard new ownership/management caused a lot of these issues. They offer to pay people for referrals of other tenants because they can’t get tenants to live there on their own. Ironically, if they just improved these conditions they wouldn’t have to bribe current tenants to bring new ones in. They also disabled google reviews because of bad ratings. Best of luck if you decide to try this place out.

Southfield is decent now after new management. They advertise their THREE pools but last summer only one was partially open. They didn’t not accommodate our rent for not being able to use the pools during pool season and had POOR communication in regards to the status of the other pools and when that ONE pool would be open. They do allow dogs even the dinosaur ones so their poop is everywhere. Last, there are a lot of middle age & nosy neighbors. So I wouldn’t completely recommend but the complex is decent for what is out here.

I live in a 2 bedroom and I have a place for everything. I like the colors of the cabinets. It’s nice having storage off the balcony. Seems like a nice area to live in. It’s pretty quiet here at least in my building. There are 3 pools which is nice since there are a lot of people living here.

I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. They used to be really good to their residents here. Since new owners have taken over. They are extremely money hungry. You have to pay for every little thing. Then if you are late its $100.00 extra per week. Its nearly impossible to get caught up. Month isn't even over an already have attorney threats on your door. So everyone can see it. They only thing they care about is money.

This place is an absolute dump, from trashy neighbors to rotting building structures. Maintenance is an absolute joke, not responding to complaints, and or maintaining the grounds. neighbors are horrible as well, from slamming doors at four in the morning to stomping and playing loud music. if you are reading this review, do yourself a favor, avoid this place. There are plenty of places in oakville that you can rent from that are halfway decent. Not to mention fights break out at the "dog park" while the owners neglect to maintain their unruley animals. we also had several problems with our unruly upstairs neighbor. Moving out of here will be a dream

The Maintenance and Office crew are great and the grounds are well kept. I'm not a swimmer but knowing I can take my grandsons to 1 of the 3 pools if I wanted is nice. The 2 laundry facilities are nice to have as well. My only issue is that 95% of the dog owners do not respect the grounds or the other people that live there. The complex has given them a nice dog park and other areas to walk their dogs but these individuals choose to let the dogs, crap by people windows and patios. Their defense to that is as long as I pick it up, it’s okay. I wanted to be here for a while but I'm moving when my lease is up. Sadly, I must wait about 8 months...

If you’re looking for a budget friendly apartment Southfield is for you. The grounds are well kept and pools are nice and clean. Never have had any issues with the office. Maintenance could be better but it is a big complex. The dog park is nice and the fitness center is a plus. My only overall complaint is the amount of commercial vehicles that park here and take up 2-3 spots or just park in the grass blocking an entire walkway.

I have lived here for two years and have had nothing but wonderful experiences! Everyone in the leasing office is so kind and helpful. The apartments are beautiful and spacious for such an affordable price. They will even paint your living room an accent color that you love! The storage units on the balcony are so helpful if you have stuff you need to keep for free! You also can't beat free cable and three swimming pools! Maintenance is super quick and helpful whenever you need them! It's also amazing that they have a dog park and no monthly pet fees! My neighbors were always so kind and quiet.. we all became good friends. I love everyone on the Southfield team!

1100$ to replace a carpet I had lived with for 2 years. 1100$. Let that sink in. I have a couple cats, but what did they do to the carpet? Get fur on it? These guys are crooks. I wouldn't rent from them if they were the last complex on the planet.

It a great family atmosphere. There is a dog park, and pool at every court yard. A wonderful place to live

My apartment complex is very peaceful and clean I love the area and how I am facing the swimming pool. The curb appeal is always nice and well kept the ladies in the office are super friendly and are always there to help. even if they don't have an answer they will find a way to get one. I love the fact that if I do chose to have a pet I will not be responsible for pet rent just the deposit. All of my neighbors have been there for many year and they have nothing but nice things to say about the complex. I am big on living near a highway due to work and its perfectly located right up the street. they are so many shopping centers around and everything is walking distance. this will be my second year here and I have been very pleased thus far!! if your looking for a place to live this is it! they always have great move in specials and the rent is very affordable if your an animal lover you will love the no pet rent ! I even have free cable for the rest of my residency here because I came in on a GREAT special. !!

I have lived at Southfield Apartments since February 2015 and have been consistently pleased. The office staff including the manager has always been professional and courteous and the maintenance guys great. Typically everyone is eager to resolve my issues and frequently go above and beyond when possible. The property overall is in reasonable condition and the centralized courtyards are a good for playing with the kids or having a bar-b-cue. The apartments themselves are okay with decent sizes. Amazingly I have never had a bug problem but they do spray the units regularly.

Great family community. Dog park for your other kids. Close to shoppping and restuarnts. You feel right at home

I've been working over 40 hours a week and finally was able to get my own apartment. I live with my girlfriend and her amazing daughter I worry about rent everyday even the day I pay it yiu don't know it but free rent would help us out in so many ways. I just found out about a month ago that my girlfriend is pregnant and I'm going to be having my first baby, so with that and the move all kinds of emotions are going through my mind so please pick us it would be going to the right family! So about the apartment it is a two bed 1 bath on the third level (being on the third level saved us almost 50 bucks) I can't complain about anything in the apartment really it's just so nice to finally have a place of my own. The kitchen is kinda small but we make it work. There are alot of spots to store things also. We almost got everything setup and they have 3 pools in the complex. Also a dog park and laundry room. A workout facility is being constructed and I can't wait for that! So please just consider us thanks for your time.
