Property Ratings at Somerset Oceanside Apartments
AC went down late on Saturday night. They had a portable AC unit to me on Sunday. The apt AC unit was fixed early Monday morning! Can’t beat it!! Steps from the beach!
While I was visiting a friend at Somerset Oceanside Apartments I toured the property and inside a 1 bedroom that has water views. The property is landscaped beautifully and is only a 1 min walk to the Gulf of Mexico!
It is my home. I drive down Santa Rosa Boulevard with a smile on my face because I know in 2 miles I will be away from the hustle and bustle of traffic, My serenity is just down the road, a stones throw away from the Gulf of Mexico. From sunrise to sunset Somerset is your best choice. Quite, relaxing and cool!
I have been a resident for 20 yrs. The property manager, Ms Linda and the maintenance manager Mr. Chris are always ready to help even though sometimes it seems difficult to me, they are available.
I toured a lovely 2/2 w/new carpet & LVP flooring. Beautifully manicured landscaping only a minute walk to the private boardwalk that leads to the Gulf of Mexico. Pool area w/ cabana, fire pits, charcoal grills throughout the property. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a piece of paradise to call their own.
Letty was so nice. She took the time to show me different properties and helped me with paperwork. Most of all I know she will meet my needs and I can’t wait to move in!!
Management is absolutely the worst. Some rules include...don’t speak above a whisper, don’t play music above a whisper, don’t have guests when you are not at home(to include a maid!), don’t park too close to the curb, don’t put a chair too close to the pool, don’t put a chair too close to a gate, don’t utilize just any gate ( only the one that is designated for the day), don’t plant things...to name a few. PRISON!!!

Thank you for your review and I'm sorry you felt you were in prison. However, as the current manager since December 2020 I can assure you I do not run the complex like a prison. In fact, I'm proud of the welcoming beach community our residents and team have created. We do have respectable quiet hours from 10pm-8am. You're correct, we do not allow planting into the grounds but your welcome to have potted plants on your patios & balconies, this way you can take your plants with you if you decide to move.
We lived here on the beach for 2 years! This place was so great; just steps to the whitest beach! The staff at Somerset are great! Leeann the Manager, Letty the Leasing Agent and wonderful Frank who keeps the place maintained! A wonderful place to live! You cannot go wrong with renting from them! The pool is always sparkling! I will miss our beach life!
We lived in these beautiful homes for 3 years and loved every minute of it! You just cannot beat the quick walk to the beach, beautiful sunsets, clean pool, laundry facility and the wonderfully awesome staff! On the rare occasion that we needed assistance, the staff was very friendly and fast to assist us and resolve. I enjoyed the neighbors we had and the sense of community. We always felt safe at this property and had wonderful memories here. I would highly recommend these apartment homes to everyone that is looking to live the good life…the salt life! The staffs in the office were always friendly and had a smile on their faces! The maintenance crew always went above and beyond to make sure we had the best place to live on the island! Not a lot of people can say they have lived on an island but you get those bragging rights also! Altogether I have everything nice to say and cannot think of one bad thing about these homes!
My boyfriend and I just moved out after living at Somerset for the past 7.5 years. Overall, we would recommend it to anyone! It's steps away from the beach, and the location is wonderful. We like to say you have the best of both worlds there: Ft. Walton and Destin. Over the years the staff became like family to us. They truly cared about our personal lives and we will likely be back to visit. Maintenance responses were always quick and we never had any major issues over all those years. We thought the price was great for the space...we had a 2 bedroom and it was perfect for guests. Yes, there are rules, but overall I saw very few notices that had to be posted due to a tenants misbehavior (maybe cig butts, trash every once in a while). We wish they were pet friendly, but we can understand their reasoning. Even after 7.5 years it was hard to leave Somerset! It will always be a home that we look back upon fondly.
