Wedged between the Whitewater River and the Miami Whitewater Forest, Harrison is a scenic destination located about 20 miles northwest of Downtown Cincinnati. With I-74 passing through the center of the city, Harrison is ideal for commuters. Harrison Avenue, closer to the river, is the location of the historic downtown shopping district. This charming area is filled with bakeries, boutiques, gift shops, restaurants, salons, and other businesses. Cincinnati West Airport is in the northeast section of Harrison.
First established in 1810, Harrison is home to several historic sites. The earliest home, the Eighteen Mile House, was built around 1800 as a tavern. Harrison was one of the cities located along the Whitewater Canal, with the section located here completed in 1843. Harrison is a close-knit community with a variety of events, such as the Friday Night Summer Movies, the Harrison City Wide Yard Sale, and Tuesday Night Summer Concerts.
