Tucked in the northwest corner of Cook County, suburbs such as Hoffman Estates, Palatine, South Barrington and Schaumburg vary widely in personality and composition. Schaumburg, the largest in population, is home to Ikea and Woodfield Mall, the largest mall in the Chicago area. Palatine, developed on a wooded marshland, comes in at a close second in size. Hoffman Estates, while smaller, is the most densely populated of the four suburbs and is home to AT&T's Midwest headquarters and Sears Holding Corporation. South Barrington, tiny in comparison, and arguably the most affluent in the area, is home to the famous mega church, Willow Creek Community Church.
Heavy traffic can double or triple commute times, so area locals know to check the highway reports before leaving home. Normal drive time into the city from this area is about 30 minutes via the Interstate 90 tollway. An easy 20 minute drive will take residents to O'Hare International Airport.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Schaumburg- International Village
Heating and AC do not work. It was under 65 degrees in winter and now over 80 degrees inside in the summer! Have told management multiple times and they do nothing to fix it and just make excuses . Matinenence takes forever to fix anything. Never had problems like this in other apartments I've lived in, management just doesn't care about thier tenants!
3 years of living here,2015-2018 we've had multiple incidents of the staff forgetting, miscommunicating issues n problems. You have to chase n remind them of the help you need. Workout area is worn and some machines do not work. Majority of the people there tend to leave furniture in halls or stairways because they are to lazy to throw them out. Maintenance is needed in multiple areas. Essex building needs many fixes as the Air condition is hardly working. Please consider this as an option more than a first choice. I'm trying to help you out! Pros- pool is clean n very big
I had very high hopes moving into IV. The units are large, modern and clean. There is a fitness center, recreational room and pool conveniently located. Since moving in 11 months ago I have had nothing but problems. I am still to this day getting phone calls to my office line at work which I have email copies of specifically asking the office manger to completely take off of my account. Upon moving in I was reassured that even though the unit I was signing for was located on the first floor, next to the external back door and bedroom backed up against the building staircase that it was extremely sound proof. I am kept up every SINGLE night to this day. The culture is extremely loud indoors and up to late hours of the evening. There are constantly kids screaming down the hallways, men running up and down the stairs between 11pm and 12am along with the external door constantly being propped open. Since the door is constantly propped open this has led to the obvious situation of mice being in my unit. Naturally this happened late at night on a Friday evening in my kitchen. I immediately contacted the after-hours maintenance team which did promptly respond. However all they had brought was caulking spray and plastic sticky traps. Nothing was specifically done to remove the mouse from my oven nor thorough preventative maintenance. Luckily I went to the store to buy wooden traps the next morning which I found a mouse in two days later. Also, I had heating issues all winter. My heat was always kept around 70 which is very costly due to my bedroom being in the 50s even with heat blasting constantly. It came to a point which my mother was in town visiting me and she asked me to contact a lawyer because it was not livable. I contacted the office whom a week later sent over a maintenance staff. I assumed he would come prepared to fully assess my door/windows; he took down my plastic window covering and put up a new piece of his own. After being exhausted from trying to explain how horrible it was having to run two bedroom electric heating units along with a mattress pad warmer and getting no where I was done trying. Most recently, my unit flooded through the foundation. The lack of repair quality continued- the carpet (mold growing from A LOT of water sitting in the carpet for two days) was cleaned and they re-painted the water markings on the wall. NO SEALING WAS DONE, which means this WILL happen again.
There are plus and minus for every apartment complexes available. This review is in response to all the negative review for a single bad incident or their own mistake and some extremely positive reviews some people have written for no reason. I chose to stay here primarily because it was close to work. Then I chose to continue further because I had become used to the apartments. Lots of friends, nice and friendly maintenance staff and office staff. The maintenance staff in particular they used to respond to situations promptly which is very helpful. Apart from this, there are many plus points staying here: proximity to grocery shops, restaurants, mall, metra station, movie theaters, gyms, gas station. Actually these are the things that makes you stay put. Having said that, there are certain things that i think are the negatives to a rather nice place like the rent is more considering how old the apartment is modeled and it keeps on increasing atleast 70$ a year. It definitely needs renovation considering the place the apartment is located and also looking at some other apartments in this area. The doors are very old and it must have better locks. The gym is spacious but needs a lift. There are no barbells and the maximum weight is only 50lbs. The only machine available is practically useless and can be changed. I have heard from my other friends that some of the apartments have roaches which i feel is because of 2 reasons, one the apartments are old and second is because of the residents themselves. They need to keep their own place clean. I have never faced this problem though. Overall it is comfortable here and this is the reason I could not move out despite trying hard. Hope my views are helpful to anyone considering an apartment here.
The environment and serene view of the society i like most of this apartment. Well maintained lawns, pool and club house adds further value to apartments. Interior, kitchen and rest room provide are of top quality. Ventilation and the room for sun rays for all the apartments has been provisioned.
Nice apartments, but there are old and need to updated.
Driving passed the apartment complex just catches your eye! Big balconies, beautiful renovations, professional and friendly staff who are also very prompt with questions, requests, and issues. The land is always maintained to be picture perfect and a weekly clean-up crew always maintains the halls and garbage. Beautiful club house, multiple pools, a gym, several courts used for sport (tennis, volleyball, basketball). Close to various shopping centers, restaurants, the community college, and two highways. It's a very convenient place to live with the added boost of curb appeal.
I moved to Chicago 4 years ago and was looking for a place to live and just drove by International Village Apartments and stopped in. The staff gave me a tour and it was everything I needed, so after 4 years I am completely happy with my choice. Shopping is close by and many things are within walking distance, including grocery and and dinning places.
It is not a bad apartment, it's close to the highway, mall, train station, haven said all that I don't think its worth the amount I pay for a 1 bedroom per month. bugs in the house, things fall apart . residents throw their trash rather than straight into the dumpster. just seeing out my lease term then find something else within the area.
