Located along the Mississippi River and ringed with parks, Cottage Grove is a picturesque city defined by green lawns, tree-lined sidewalks, and quiet streets. It is located about 10 miles southeast of Downtown Saint Paul, with Highway 10 providing fast access to the larger city -- a commute of less than 15 minutes. An additional five minutes will bring you to Downtown Minneapolis, making Cottage Grove apartments ideal for commutes throughout the Twin Cities area.
In addition to the typical playgrounds, splash parks, and golf courses, Cottage Grove is home to a unique park -- the Grey Cloud Dunes Scientific and Natural Area. Beautiful year-round, this park provides amazing views of the river. It features two terraces -- one about 40-60 feet above the river, the other about 110 feet above the river. The park is ideal for bird and wildlife watching, photography, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and hiking.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at ReNew at the Grove
Tara the landlord is amazing! She really takes care of her residents and you can tell she really cares about her job. When I moved in, she stayed until 11pm the night before cleaning up along with the cleaning crew to make sure the apartment was perfect. When we did a walk through on move in day, she brought her cleaning bucket to do last minute touch ups! Everyone that I've met in the community so far has been very friendly! Some even offered to help me unload the truck and carry items ! It's an affordable place which is nice too.
Lived here for two years. Finally left when I found out I had mice in my unit. When I told the management, I was handed a pack of glue traps and told “you can get more from Target for a couple dollars.” She tried to blame it on me, saying my pet cockatiel’s seed was attracting them... to the 3rd floor. Three more complaints and they sent an exterminator. After that, I was clearly on her Crap List for daring to raise a complaint! When I decided soon after that I was not going to renew my lease, she began sliding notes under my door, informing me she would be showing the unit off to other tenants. She knew I worked midnight shift and slept during the day and didn’t care if she had to wake me up to show off the place. Pretty sure she enjoyed waking me up every other day.
I refuse to even give this place ONE star! Susan, the manager, is the most disrespectful, power hungry person I have EVER met! I have had nothing but problems with her since the day I signed my lease 8 months ago. These people care nothing about the residence or the apartments we live in. Cooperate seems to be doing nothing about the evil witch and I am extremely surprised she still has a job! If you choose to live here, good luck! It will be a nightmare... the worst experience ever!! I will NEVER recommend Grove Ridge Apartments and will continue to write bad reviews until I move out!

The manager here is the most disrespectful person I've ever met in my life! If you think you can live here with that woman running this place you're out of your mind! She is so rude to people- I honestly don't know how she still has a job. After reading all these posts, if I was her boss I'd fire her immediately! I couldn't wait to get out of here! This is the worst place I ve ever lived! She is hands down the worst person I've ever met in my life! Do not rent here.

I moved in a handful of years ago and recently moved out and could not be happier to be gone. Due to some family issues I had to remain in Cottage Grove and there are not a lot of apartment options in Cottage Grove - and the apartment owners in the area realize this, and also realize they can treat you like dirt, not return calls, not preform maintenance and there is pretty much nothing you can do about it. Grove Ridge Apartments offers you a great introductory rate, and then it goes up 50-75 dollars a year. If you need anything from management they are extremely rude and unfriendly. It takes several emails to get the property manager to call you back, as well as it takes several tries for maintenance to fix anything. They have had severe roof leaks on the 3rd floor (Look at the water stains on the ceilings if you go inspect one) and also if you move the fridge many signs of Rodents. Parking is horrendous!! If you get home after 10 pm there is usually very limited to no parking because of people in the building throwing parties - which is made obvious by the copious smell of burning marijuana in the hallways coming from the apartments. In the winter plowing and shoveling were minimal, especially sanding for ice! I don't mean to be absolutely negative in this post, but really there was nothing to write positive except for maybe location - easy to get on to Hwy 61 and close to Walmart/Target/Cub Foods. Unless you absolutely need a place in Cottage Grove - I would suggest looking in a different city or at least at a different property.
The apartments themselves are nice and the back yard pool area is great, but the management is awful! I lived here for a year and could never get anyone to return my phone calls. Twice I had textbooks delivered that were stuck in the office for over a week because the managers were never in the office and don't return phone calls. After moving out I had extremely important documents that may have been delivered there, so I called and called and left multiple voicemail's and stopped by twice before I ever got a hold of someone. The main lady is not very intelligent and should not be in charge. They also never fixed my exhaust fan after moving in like they were supposed too. The apartments handy man also left me a nice surprise after moving out that indicated he had bad taco bell and worse aim, that we had to clean. We left because they jacked the rent way up (but were advertising the same 2bd for less on Craigslist)and we were sick of the unreliable managers. If you are looking for a good landlord RUN. BTW a 2bd is $940 so they do indeed charge more than what they advertise.
Been living in this apartment for about a year now and been loving every moment of it. This place has a great on site office with great workers and also a great maintenance team. The apartments are very spacious with decent sized kitchens (no tiny dorm room kitchen) with fridge, oven/stove and dishwasher. There is also a washer and dryer on every floor for doing clothes and also a laundry mat not that far away either. They just redid all of the 2nd and 3rd floor decks along with the roof of both buildings. The apartments has a nice sized parking lot that goes between both buildings and far down past the other one. They do have garages in two different sizes with a working lights. Behind the 2nd building there is also a nice size swimming pool that is locked for local use only to the apartment renters. Good news for those who like to grill there is a grilling area back by the swimming pool too. Beyond that this is a great area to live being not far from ones needs with local auto shops, restaurants, grocery stores and local shopping super stores. Right off of highway 61 between Hastings and 494, its an easy access to escape the city area or go down town for the evening. If your looking for a great place to live outside of the city but not to far away this is the place for you!
The starting price is $50 higher than there advertised and then they charge another $50 for a garage. Not worth looking at unless you have unlimited money you want to throw away.
Grove Ridge has a great location. Residents are friendly and the staff is very helpful. I am glad to be able to live here.
