Adjacent to Rickenbacker International Airport on the outskirts of Columbus, Groveport is much more than a suburb. One of the area's earliest canal towns, Groveport predates the opening of the Ohio and Erie Canal in 1831. Back then, there were two towns: Wert's Grove and Rarey's Port. When the two towns merged, they combined their names into the one-of-a-kind "Groveport."
