Ranked among the best places to live in Wisconsin, the fair city of Verona is just a 20-minute drive from Madison. The quintessential Hometown USA, Verona offers a small-town feel on the outskirts of the big city with plenty of its own recreational, cultural, and business amenities.
Known as a center for recreation, Verona contains the crossroads for the Military Ridge State Bike Trail and the National Ice Age Trail, which connect to Madison and other area communities. Competitors from all over the world join the Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon, passing through Verona every September. The Verona Community Theater stages regular productions and the Verona Performing Arts Series brings in nationally recognized talent. The annual festival Hometown Days includes a carnival, parade, fireworks, live music, food, games, and more every June. Verona is a great place for business, from specialty shops in the downtown area to the corporate headquarters of worldwide healthcare software company Epic.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Prairie Crest Apartments
Last October they gave out free stuff to anyone who left a 5 star review which is why Oct 2021 has so many fake 5 stars You can spend 30 hours cleaning and make everything spotless and they will still take all your money. It's a great apartment to live in as long as you are willing to pay a $600 deposit you will never see again. They will make up stains that are not there or charge you for stains the previous renters made and ignore your move in report you fill out.
I applied to live here and was told there were no other applications for the apartment so mine would have first choice. I was told I’d hear back in three days. After a week I was told I’d hear back in a few more days. This went on a few more times, each time I contacted them. Finally after 3 weeks I was told the apartment was rented. When I mentioned that I was told no one has applied, they let me know there was a “mix-up”. I can’t speak to how living here is, but my experience seemed dodgy at best.
We have lived at Prairie Crest for a couple of weeks now. We moved in with only a brief virtual walkthrough but we have been happy with our choice! Ian, the property manager, has been a delight to work with and has been ready to help us with anything! The room, and the whole complex, seem to be kept up really well. The carpets are probably the nicest carpets we have seen in an apartment and we love the massive closets. We do live right above the garage (I’m sure most other people don’t) and sometimes that wakes us up early in the morning and the walls are easy to mark up but not easy to clean. We had a suitcase scuff up a wall and as we were trying to wipe it off, the paint came along with it. Besides that, we would recommend this complex to anyone and we look forward to our time here!
Love it here. Nice apt with plenty of storage and very quiet. The pool is awesome. Staff is very nice. I have been here, soon 7 years
My roommate and I love living here. The apartment is spacious and gets lots of light! Maintenance is super quick to fix things if there are ever any problems. It’s a great location too! Ver close to the grocery store, gas station, coffee shops and parks. Overall, we have loved our experience here!
We recently leased a one bedroom one bathroom apartment an my husband and I couldn't be happier. The apartment is just the right size for the two of us, it's comfortable and big enough to entertain two couples at the same time without hovering over each other. We are truly happy we rented at Prairie Crest.
My fiance and I moved to Verona from Indiana, and Prairie Crest has been a wonderful first home together for us. We love how quiet it is, and the amazing amenities make it well worth the money. We have the two bed two bath unit, and it is very spacious. We have plenty of room for our family to stay with us, and we love that both bathrooms have a large tub. The open concept floor plan is wonderful, the natural lighting could not be better. The management is amazing, and anything you may need gets attended to immediately.
The most recent management seems to be more responsive than previous ones (who seemed to need multiple reminders of problems before they'd bother to address them). The buildings and landscaping are well-maintained and the units have good layouts with full kitchens, spacious closets, in-unit washer/dryers, underground parking - my studio even has a larder. The balconies are spacious, but don't offer much privacy - if you open a window for fresh air your unit will smell like your neighbor's ashtray. Most neighbors are quiet, some so quiet they won't even say 'hello' in the hallways.
Worst management ever! I would not recommend living here to anymore. The only thing these people care about is themselves. Tenants are not valued and neither are employee's.
This is my second year as a resident at Prairie Heights apartments and I really don't have any complaints. The property managers and maintenance crew keep the building(s) clean and maintained. The buildings have very good insulation so neighbor noise is kept to a minimum. I can count the times on one hand that I've heard a neighbor in 2 years. I have a studio apartment and its probably the biggest I've seen in its price range with a large bathroom and a walk in closet that houses a washer and dryer in the unit. I'd definitely recommend the place to a friend. The only reason id consider changing is if I bought or relocated.
