Property Ratings at Peters Family Partnership
We lived in the chapel view apartments for over 6 years and were charged when we moved out for things that were written on our move in sheet as being dirty and broken. We were on time or early with all of our rent payments, and still the landlord was nasty to us when we had complaints of things that needed to be fixed. We were told that when we moved out they weren't required to let us come along on the walk through, and the maintenance guy doing the move out check was the guy that charged them to "fix" all the things that were going to be taken out of our security deposit. We had a crew of family and friends come over to help wash the walls, shampoo the carpet, and scrub all the appliances to make sure we got our money back from the deposit, and they still took out for a bunch of money for several things that were as clean, or cleaner than when we moved in. We were yelled at when I let my dad fill a 5 gallon water jug from the outside water hookup when water was included in our rent and we were accused of "stealing". We never turned the heat on in 6 years because it was always over 75 and we had to have windows open during the winter. The was a leak in the upstairs neighbor's bathtub and it caused the ceiling in the bathroom to sag and I pushed a hole through it with my finger, and after fixing the leak they just patched over the hole and never ripped out the wet ceiling. We had mold in corners of the bathroom and in the corners of the closet in the bedroom that they didn't do anything about, we just had to wipe it off every time it came back. There were small pay washers and dryers in the basement (not big enough to wash any size comforter), but the dryers would need to be run at least twice before anything could even be close to considered dry. If you rent here make sure to take pictures on move in and move out.
I decided to rent with Peter's family Partnership considering it's "family owned" and thought that would reflect in the quality of the rental property on Packerland drive. I soon found this to be further from the truth and had a bad experience nearly from day one. In the bathroom, dirt was literally falling out of the fan onto the floor in chunks and even hit me on the head. I was unaware my apt was above the boiler room. All winter my heat was OFF and I still had to open window's to keep comfortable in the main living area. This scenario caused my daughter's room to become cold late into the night. The hallways were always dirty. Walls, carpets, window's, every common area was dirty. The dryers do t cry your clothes. The carpet trim/transition in my apt was raised and sharp I had to constantly make a conscious effort to avoid stepping on it as it hurt if stepped on. My daughter tripped and hit her face on the trim causing her extreme pain. My son also slipped and hit his mouth on this carpet trim and busted his lip open. I called the Landlord to inform them of continuous injuries and the owners said they would not replace it that I would have pay for it personally. There was a cockroach issue in another apartment confirmed to be true when I questioned the property management after hearing of this from another tennant. Other tennents were seen looking into my windows as i lived on 1st floor. There is no guest parking allowed whatsoever even though once I counted approx 15 open unassigned spots. They parking police will ticket no exceptions. I had a major surgery and asked for a temporary pass because my mother was coming over to help me while I healed. That was refused. My parents are elderly and I was told they had to park on Trojan drive and walk over (my dad at the time could barley walk) or give them my pass and I park elsewhere. Some of my messages to the Maintenance lady were ignored. Almost all of the above issues were unable or refused to be remedied. They took over half of my security deposit upon departure for things that were not even dirty or broken. Just dont!!!!!!
Safety – The building is well lite both inside (lights on every floor) and outside (lights illuminating the parking area), the smoke alarms and fire extinguishers are visible throughout the building, the building is wheelchair accessible. The management is quick to respond to both complaints/suggestions with a 1-2 day turn around. Maintenance – laundry facility in each of the four buildings for the residents convenience and are kept up. carpeting in the main foyer as well as the windows are cleaned just about daily. The lawn is kept clipped and taken care of every week . The garbage and recycled area is cleaned and free of debris, garbage is picked up 2 days a week and recyclables are picked up every week. Management – Complaints/suggestions are handled promptly within 1 -2 days. The management or maintenance is a phone call away make sure you call ahead in regards to issues with the apartment, please be very specific when doing so. Lifestyle Activities – Both day and night it is very quiet and restful. Community/Neighborhood Amenities – We are within close proximity to shopping centers, a wide range of restaurants, schools , fitness center, urgent care and banks, as well as the fire dept.. Transportation is a half a block away.
The biggest advantage to this building is the location and price. It's an affordable place to live and you can easily walk to the store or NWTC. The only problem with management is that they often do not know what to do and get confused very easily; however when we needed a new air conditioner we had one the next day. The place also isn't the cleanest or nicest looking, but if you're looking for a place to live for a couple years it isn't that bad.
