Eastern Durham consists almost exclusively of residential areas. Well manicured subdivisions sit in largely wooded areas and provide housing to the tens of thousands of workers who spend the majority of their week at one of the major companies with headquarters in Research Triangle Park.
Residents enjoy a safe, quite country setting that also provides easy access to the area's major amenities, including downtown Durham, RTP and the Raleigh/Durham International Airport. The popular resort area, Falls Lake and Falls Lake State Recreation Area, is about 15 minutes east. This area is ideal for boating, fishing, camping, and hiking.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Pendleton Townhomes
I moved here in October 31 2021. We didn't have any heat for thanksgiving. It was fixed in January 2022. My dishwasher stopped working for a year. The water was backed up and my dishes molded. Mold the size of golf balls. I kept putting a work order in and it was finally taken care of by a temp maintenance person after he was here for only a week. Then they fired him. I contacted DSS for assistance on July 7, 2025. From July 7 until July 17 no one in the Pendleton office answered the phone nor returned one voice mail. DSS called me on the morning on July 17 to let me know that they couldn't help me because nobody in the office answered the phone and they began calling on July 7 the same day I reached out to them. DSS stated that is the most ridiculous and unprofessional act to not answer the phone for 10 business days while someone is trying to receive financial assistance and someone needs to be held accountable for that. But I'm sure it won't happen, as long as Pendleton gets their rent. I went to the office that same day of July 17 and was told by the property manager that it's possible nobody answered the phone because there is 1 person in the office. That means nothing to me when 10 days has passed by and yes that person needs to be held accountable and I have the social workers name and number and when she called and how many times she called. She left voicemails as well. If corporate doesn't think this is a problem this complex doesn't need to be here. They need to do better anyway. We were given notices that we can't have grills out here but Pendleton is advertising a picnic area and grills. This is not the best place to live. There is no space for kids to play. We don't have assigned parking but are suppose to have 1 space and a visitors space. People come over here and park that don't even live here. Pendleton need to get their budget together as well as a new team.

When I first visited, I thought the townhomes were nice inside and outside. It wasn’t until I was moved in 6 months later is when everything unfolded. They could have used real wood on the floors as it used to bubble up a lot and changed those cheap walls to where you couldn’t hear you neighbors conversation nor smell the weed thats used to come through my vents downstairs. I had to stop even opening the bathroom door because it was that strong. I bought tons of air freshener and that didn't work. The kids were very loud all through the parking lot. Their parents were never outside watching them. They used to climb on the roof, knock on your door and run put garbage in front of your door. It was a mess! Never mind that, the amount of violence that took place there was ridiculous and it seem as though everyone was used to it. And I wont touch on management or the maintenance crew. Every other month a new maintenance man was working pretending to care for your needs in the townhome. I am so glad i got out of there. I do not recommend anyone, not a good place to live, unless of course you don’t mind all that I mentioned.
