West Ashley sits within the city of Charleston and is west of the Ashley River, hence its name, and is the birthplace of Hootie & the Blowfish’s frontman, Darius Rucker. Lined with mossy oaks, the Ashley and Stono Rivers border West Ashley, creating the breathtaking scenery for which Charleston is known. West Ashley residents enjoy close proximity to the area's only indoor mall, the Citadel Mall, and a large number of big-box stores.
Situated seven miles due west of Downtown Charleston, residents can plan on a 15- to 30-minute drive, depending on traffic, to take in all downtown has to offer. Nearby Interstate 526, which feeds directly into Charleston’s Interstate Highway 26, gives residents a fast and easy route in and out of area. Mid- to late-1900s ranch-style homes characterize the housing in outer West Ashley, but neighborhoods built in the 2000s also sprinkle the area.

Overture West Ashley is a friendly community in an outstanding location near everything. It has beautiful grounds and surroundings, good maintenance, excellent staff, and many activities for residents. Overall a very nice community in which to live.
We have some nice people that live here and the area is nice. It is in a convenient area.
Great place to call “Home”. Beautiful location on Marsh with Tidal Creek and a Pond with Fountain. Walking trail on property plus adjacent to Greenway Variety of Shopping and Restaurants within walking distance. Downtown Charleston 10 minutes drive. Location could not be more convenient. Amenities are too many to mention. Cleaning Staff is excellent. And…Pet friendly with Fenced Astroturf Dog Park.
We are quite comfortable. However, the very low water makes it difficult when preparing meals.
Things could be better as far as security. Overture is advertised as secure and at this point it isn't. That is a great selling point.

Overall we are enjoying life at OWA….the staff is available and ready to assist. The safety features are currently not working however…..the doors and parking lot gates are wide open to nonresidents…..we realize this situation is being addressed but one of the reasons we moved here was the safety features.

OWA is a facility that is ideally located for walking and shopping. The staff is always responsive to any problem that they can remedy. There are excellent opportunities for recreation and for learning.

The sense of community at Overture West Ashley is palpable, thanks in large part to the fantastic resident events that are always an offer. For those who enjoy staying active, the pickleball court is a huge hit, and the well-maintained walking path winding through the property is perfect for a daily stroll, especially with the beautiful willow trees providing shade and a serene atmosphere. You can even spy turtles sun bathing at the little pond. A real bonus is the on-site salon, making pampering convenient and accessible. It's a comfortable, vibrant community, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone seeking an active adult lifestyle

I came through with my mother a month back and have to say I was beyond impressed with management and the tour. Everyone in the leasing office made it a point to introduce themselves and make us feel welcomed. The apartments are a good size and my mother was excited for the outside garden residents have to grow their own food. Check this place out if you are looking for an active adult lifestyle. You won’t be disappointed

This complex feels different from most other apartments in the area. And it’s in a good way. There are tons of resident games and events. The team will listen to your suggestions and let residents be creative with a monthly event calendar. There’s a huge pool and the prettiest sunsets you will ever see over the marsh. Also really cute turtles that sunbathe in the little pond near the trail

Best staff ever and the property is beautiful. I use the pool regularly and the gym. They also make us breakfast a few times a week and the wine down Wednesdays are a lot of fun as well. My apartment has high end appliances and a gorgeous view of the water. Couldn't be happier here!

I have lived at Overture West Ashley for almost 3 years, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I love being with people close to my age who have life experiences similar to mine and who enjoy doing activities that I enjoy. There are activities to attend and staff is open to new experiences for residents. It's also in a great location.

The Overtute experience is fine comfortable clean. My sister also lives at an Overture in Texas after she visited me. I lived 5 years in Indiana with my husband at Westminster Village so this is not my first experience in senior living.

Great location! This low rating is because it is an unsafe place for elderly residents to live. Our building entry doors are broken/unlocked, and security gates are broken/open. This unsafe situation has existed for more than 3 months. Intruders could enter any of our buildings, rob and/or assault an elderly resident. We pay top dollar to live here and expect it to be safe from predators.

I love living here. A huge adjustment from 2 1/2 Acres with 3 Bdrm Home a 1/3 acre stock pond with lg commercial grade fountain. However, OVERTURE WEST is fabulous in everyway. Exactly where I want to be for the unforeseeable future I am blessed with.

We have lived at OWA since it opened. We like the quiet setting between a scenic greenway and a salt water marsh with wading birds all within walking distance to a small shopping center and many dining spots. The current management team at OWA is great as are the social functions. We think that the current housekeeping service needs improvement because it has deteriorated over the last six months, particularly in and adjacent to the elevators. The paddings in the elevators should be taken down sooner after a move in-out because they are unsightly, as are the elevator floors.

I love my apartment and my community of friends. The exterior maintenance is superb. I wish we had more community get togethers like we used to for meals/potlucks. Many of our activities are becoming resident led, instead of done for us. I do enjoy all the speakers we have visit.

As an over-55 widow, what I appreciate most about Overture West Ashley is the opportunity, in a beautiful setting, to make new friends and develop a support system for those of us who are alone. Very convenient to everything I need. Friendly neighbors and a beautiful area. There are numerous activities to choose from and numerous exercise classes. There is a beautiful nature trail to walk on and a deck out over a tidal creek. It is a very quite and serene place.

The location is very convenient for dining, shopping, and medical care. Every day brings new opportunities for fun, friendship, and fulfillment. However, the activities and amenities have decreased noticeably over the years with rent increases.

I love living here but do not understand how Greystar could have allowed a Contractor to build structures with so many flaws. I am especially disturbed by the lack of security in that doors and gates are unlocked and have been for months, supposedly because parts are never available for repairs. The landscape crew is pathetic, allowing bushes to be overgrown and never groomed . They are dying all over the property and all the supposed landscapers do is blow leaves. We need crews with knowledgeable foremen.

I now have more time to enjoy family, friends and my active life! Overture takes care of maintenance and provides many opportunities to enjoy life and making new friends. I've met very interesting and inspiring individuals. I have experienced that the staff is attentive, friendly and caring. Its location has great access to everything around the Charleston area. Great location! Everything is easy to walk to. The exercise classes are wonderful! A real positive to have a heated pool for water aerobics. The West Ashley Greenway is a wonderful place to take a walk or ride a bike!

Being a resident for five years speaks for it's self., clean inside and out, Actives are great something to do all the time. I would like to see side door of building #1 locked, over six months still no parts. by not locking makes building unsafe

Living at Overtrue gives me the freedom of being independent in a community filled with potential Friends who share common interest. The building is in a perfect location for shopping, walking, biking, without having to drive in traffic.

When looking for a new place to live after being in our home for 25 years, the Overture ticked all the boxes. It is beautifully designed, well maintained and very convenient to shopping and outdoor activities. We loved the staff and they have been extremely helpful with our move. The apartment is lovely and was in excellent condition upon our arrival. We love all the amenities and look forward to getting to use them. So far we love our new home and everyone has made this experience as pleasant as possible!
I am very happy to be at Overture West Ashley. It is quiet and peaceful, and the location is outstanding, near every retail outlet and service I need. Staff is extremely helpful and courteous.

Place is great. Good maintenance. Public areas kept clean and in good shape. Grounds are maintained weekly. My only gripe is UPS drivers allowed to deliver to floor of front building instead of delivery to door of apartment as specified on delivery label.
