Poor building management

Water shutdowns, rent raises, poor cheap construction with thin walls, and incompetent management

Aside from the water and or heaters seemingly having to be shut every few weeks, the walls being paper thin (you can hear telephone conversations in the above and joining units) The building has poor management. They will say one thing but do another. Stay AWAY

Meh

Rent raises have been over 9% each year, for years. You'll be able to tell when the rent raises start happening because there will be a lot of people moving out. Consider this a one and done place. The location is nice, but the building is average. The lobby was painted in August 2016, but there seem to be no other improvements in several years. The repaired water leak in the laundry ceiling has been unpainted for years. There were a lot of water shut-offs "for maintenance" in early 2016. They grout over black mold in showers (it will show up a couple months after you move in, but you can't bleach it away because it's underneath the grout). Clothing that was apparently discarded by a homeless person lay in the front for a couple weeks. Things go missing from the garage, even bicycles if the lock isn't expensive enough. Depending on where your apartment is, it can be very noisy here. Trash trucks stop across the street several mornings a week around 5 a.m. Restaurant deliveries across the street are in the middle of the night and can be loud enough to wake you even if you wear ear plugs. It's on a major street, so there's the usual honking and other traffic noise. There's an even bigger building under construction next door. They have been working on underground parking since spring 2016, so the construction will probably last quite a while.
