History

Like much of the greater Columbus area, the rich history of outer Dublin and Hilliard began long before European settlers called the community home. Even before modern Native Americans occupied central Ohio, prehistoric mound builders settled in the area. Huge mounds, built by these early occupants for both religious ceremonies and burial, still exist in the area today. Later, Native Americans including the Adena, Delaware and Wyandot tribes settled in what encompasses outer Dublin and Hilliard.

The first European settlers came to central Ohio after the Revolutionary War, and as modern industry began to dominate Columbus, outer Dublin and Hilliard transformed into contemporary suburbs.
