You will hear your neighbors conversations, their tv’s, their kids, their teenagers playing video games and even their toilets flush just like they’re right in your apartment with you. These apartments also have very old creaky hardwood floors that transmit even the slightest sounds and vibrations. So when your upstairs neighbors wake up in the morning and start moving around, it will sound like a herd of thundering elephants coming through the ceiling. So, you will have to wake up too. And if your upstairs neighbors stay up late, you will have trouble going to sleep and staying asleep. These apartments also have single pane glass windows, which date back to the building initial construction in 1960s, that bring all the outside noise inside right to you. You will hear all the street noise from busy Montgomery Avenue traffic and all the noise your neighbors make in the parking lots and on their balconies. You will also hear and smell your neighbors who like to smoke marijuana in their cars in the back parking lot. So, if you still plan to move into this One Montgomery avenue noise machine, make sure you buy lots of sleeping pills

This apartment building has security issues. All tenants, all ex tenants, all vendors, all package delivery services and all food delivery drivers etc know the access code for the front door of this apartment building. Additionally many tenants prop open the front door of this building on Friday nights and all day on Saturdays. Packages have been stolen.

This building has a chronic problem with roaches and mice. Monthly exterminator visits do not eliminate the pests. Expect to live with roaches and mice for the long term.

This building is captive to 1 internet and cable provider. This provider will raise your internet and cable rates by 70% or more when their promo period ends and you will have no recourse.

This apartment complex has very thin walls and floor without any sound proofing . The apartments are very noisy. You will hear everything your surrounding neighbors say and do. The apartments are also very cold in the winter since the windows are single pane glass that date back to the original construction in the 1960s. The tenants pay a large monthly utility fee on top of the rent. So the landlord has no incentive to provide better insulated window and warmer, more energy efficient apartments.

Some tenants at 1 Montgomery apartments, operated by Marks and Company smoke marijuana. The smell of marijuana permeates the hallways of this building and often penetrates into the apartments of non users. This smell is offensive especially to those with children, health conditions or work from home. In response to complaints, Marks and company rather than prohibit drug use instead sends emails to tenants suggesting that users put towels under their doors when smoking marijuana.

The superintendent is very hard-working, and he runs the apartment complex very well. Maintenance was taking very good care of the apartment. The people in the office are friendly and efficient, they always addressed promptly my questions and concerns. After I moved out, they sent me the security deposit refund in timely manner. I liked the layout of the apartment, with the large nice windows, and with vast old-school style closets. The apartment complex is much better than other complexes in the area. Highly recommended!
