      West Ashley sits within the city of Charleston and is west of the Ashley River, hence its name, and is the birthplace of Hootie & the Blowfish’s frontman, Darius Rucker. Lined with mossy oaks, the Ashley and Stono Rivers border West Ashley, creating the breathtaking scenery for which Charleston is known. West Ashley residents enjoy close proximity to the area's only indoor mall, the Citadel Mall, and a large number of big-box stores.

      Situated seven miles due west of Downtown Charleston, residents can plan on a 15- to 30-minute drive, depending on traffic, to take in all downtown has to offer. Nearby Interstate 526, which feeds directly into Charleston’s Interstate Highway 26, gives residents a fast and easy route in and out of area. Mid- to late-1900s ranch-style homes characterize the housing in outer West Ashley, but neighborhoods built in the 2000s also sprinkle the area.

      This complex is the eyesore of the neighborhood. There is trash all over the property. The rain gutters haven't been cleaned out in years, plants are growing out of them, and a big section of gutter just fell off of a building and nothing has been done to fix it. There are piles of sandbags all over the place left from hurricanes years back. The stairwells have trash, broken furniture, dog crap, broken grills, and propane tanks littering the area. Everytime I hear gun shots from my house, I can pretty much assume it's from Oasis. Last month, three people were shot, one a young child. I messaged the company through their Facebook page, asking them to clean up the property and said their total lack of upkeep was attracting criminal activity. I did not receive a reply. They recently posted signs on the grass that say "From Drag to Fab!". How ironic that the signs are surrounded by trash.

      Thank you for posting this review. The community is undergoing extensive renovations, the interior renovations are underway, and a contract was just signed to address the exterior issues. Please stop by and let us know what residents are not picking up trash or pet waste, it takes everyone to take pride in the community they call home and properly pick up after themselves.

      Bad Experience

      Management was never in the office, never answered phone. I had put in request for repairs one month of living there and they never got solved (I had a 12 month lease). The pool is almost never open. And the fee to pay rent online is almost 40 dollars extra a month on top of your rent.

      Management

      If I could give them a negative rating I would. Previous management was awesome, this new management is by far the worst I ever experienced. They will not return phone calls and you can never get an answer or response to your question. They are also never in the office the only good thing is maintenance because they will return your phone calls.

      Location, Luxury, and Good Management

      Oasis is a beautiful complex that is a hidden gem in West Ashley. The views of this complex are beautiful being so close to the water and marsh, and the close proximity to downtown without being subject to the traffic mix of West Ashley is fantastic. The dog park, pool, and grille station right off the marsh seals the deal. Last but certainly not least is the fast turnaround time for repairs and exceeds expectations for a community of this caliber. Highly recommended.

      Poorly Maintained - Lack of Privacy

      The atmosphere at the Oasis at West Ashley is institutional and more akin to an underfunded penitentiary than a multi-family facility. The staff speak to residents with an utter and complete lack of respect. The property is poorly maintained and the filth in the dumpster area is not only a code violation but a haven for rats and raccoons. Both frequently seen running around the dumpsters at night. You are afforded no privacy. Staff will eavesdrop on conversations between tenants, spy on tenants and violate their privacy in the name of better management. This is so they can charge pet fees for your visitors. Yes, that's right. If someone visits your home they cannot bring their pet unless you pay a $300 deposit. My advice - RUN!

      Great location and Schools!! SAFE!!

      Nice place to live for a decent price in West Ashley! We’re happy with our place and the location, no trouble at all and it’s quiet! Office staff are friendly and try hard to keep up with the place. It’s older buildings that are upgraded the best they can be....schools are AMAZING! Great area to be in, surrounded by so much! Only thing I would say negative is the walls are thin but it’s an Apartment that’s to be expected! 7 months and no police activity at all!! New windows installed so I’m sure new pics will be up soon!

      The views of the marsh are just beautiful. But that about it. It takes forever to get anything fixed if it gets fixed at all. There area a lot of excuses thrown around as to why things don't get done. I told the office staff about things that needed to be fixed when I moved in 7 months ago and basically all of them still aren't fixed and that ones they did work on are poorly done. The A/C units are extremely old in all of the units and don't cool like they should. Its a good short term place to live but wouldn't recommend staying long. Definitely looking to move when my lease is up.

      It's not the worst, but if you can find something else you should

      I lived here for about 8 months and it's not the worst place to live in West Ashley, but I'd definitely not recommenced it. The management is pleasant when you visit the office but they give mixed information when you ask about the terms of your lease. This lead to extra charges that I had to pay when I vacated because of wrong info that they gave me. The remodels are nice, but it's obvious that they were done very cheaply, and rushed through finishing work leaving things like paint stains and mismatched areas in drawers and counters.

      They're literally posting pictures of their offices the apartments do not look like that

      Lived here for just over 10 months and have had an outstandingly poor experience. This complex has changed owners 3 times in the time I've lived here because no one wants to manage it. Everything is the lowest quality for the maintenance service, to the 40 year old wood that is rotting, to your air conditioning that will break, to the frequent bugs that always are plaguing this apartment complex, to the drug arrests that seem to be happening every other week. If you have kids, don't like bugs, or don't want to be pulling your hair out dealing with arrogant incompetent people who only care about bringing in the next customer and doing nothing for the current renters then whatever you do, DO NOT rent at The Oasis at West Ashley.

      Terrible!

      I have lived here for 7 months now, the management has changed 3 times now. The never notify us when someone is doing work on our building or someone needs to come into our apartment. The rent is way too high for the space and tring to keep this place cool in the summer you need to take a loan out to pay the bill! The police are here what seems like every other night because someone is fighting outside or just in Thierry own apartment. This place is like putting lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig!

      great location

      Great location but now out of my budget. I really like the new owners improvements. really wish i could continue to live here but its become just to expensive.

      Up and coming

      The staff is excellent! Very helpful and attentive from the first time dealing with them. Personable and genuinely interested in residents. The grounds need some landscaping but not unsightly. Amenities are being built currently so that will increase the value of the apartments. Great views and overall quiet community. No issues so far. Old property and units so the Reno is good not great and the ac units are ancient. Overall happy with living here once all the renovations are done I'm excited to see how much better the grounds will look.
