Located on Lake Erie’s western shore, Monroe sits on the Detroit-Toledo Expressway, just 17 miles north of Toledo and 35 miles south of Detroit. Michigan’s third oldest community, Monroe is one of the most historic cities in the state. Monroe was the site of the River Raisin Battlefield, the bloodiest battle of the War of 1812.
Aiming to balance the stewardship of historic preservation with the opportunities of economic development, Monroe is quickly becoming an arts and cultural hotspot. The River Raisin Jazz Festival draws tens of thousands every year in addition to the Monroe County Fair. Downtown Monroe is home to the Monroe County Historical Museum and the River Raisin Centre for the Arts as well as plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. Monroe’s Sterling State Park on the shores of Lake Erie offers residents and visitors access to boating, swimming, camping, wetlands exploration, hiking, and fishing.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Oak Forest Townhomes & Apartments
I lived in this dump for 6 months in 2023. Falsly advertised that there was a pool. Pool has not been opened in years. Falsely advertised having a washer and dryer in unit. I received my washer and dryer the week i moved out. Also falsely advertised having central air. Mine was broken and never fixed while i lived there. Heat was also broken and not fixed until i moved out. These amenities are reflected in how much you pay in rent. Gonto another complex and pay the same and actually get the amenities promised. So glad i got out of my lease.
Leasing office and maintenance works on whatever timeline they want with seemingly no sense of urgency. Work orders go months without being acknowledged, the property is not maintained, both in landscaping and listed amenities. Corporate parent company is not helpful when it comes to resolving issues.
terrible place, paid alot for the application and it took them over 2 weeks to get back to me. They kept asking for paystubs which was uploaded in their portal and sent to the office lady. unorganized they cannot ever call back or communicate. trying to get our application fee back I’ve called over 15 times and only been called back once. Terrible company go somewhere else to spend your rent money!
For real! I am not kidding. I love living here and using the amazing swimming pool on the super hot summer days! The huge living room in my place makes having friends and family over a great time. The back patio is a great place to sit out and enjoy mother nature. The office and maintenance staff are so friendly and funny. I can't wait for the pool party this month as every resident event that happens is amazing! If you want a place that feels like home move here now!
