The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at North Wood Apartments
Hands down the best thing about living at Northwood is the Office and Maintenance staff. They take the time to know who you are, to say hi as they walk around the complex, and even carry treats for the residents' dogs (who they also greet by name). We have a medium/large dog and never once felt like she wasn't 100% welcome by the Northwoods team. (Specific shoutout to Lauren and Todd!) Although issues rarely occurred in our newly remolded unit, when they did, the team was quick to act, considerate of our space and time, and made sure the issues were fixed correctly the first time. Though the units do run a little on the more expensive side of things for the area, if you are a family, a couple, or group of roommates with the budget to afford the peace of mind that comes with having a great team behind you, Northwoods is certainly an excellent option.
I've been a resident of Northwood for 2 years. And I've never regretted my decision. Management and staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating and supportive. Work requests are often completed in a timely fashion. Apartments have modern appeal, well insulated and sound proof. The community itself and surrounding areas offer space for sports, picnics, and other social outings. I often walk my dog down to the nearby park after a long work day where we play frisbee. Not a luxury that you find at most apartments. For the price you pay, it's well worth it!
This will be my third year living at North Wood, and the way the staff treats residents is for sure one of the major reasons my dog and I stay… not to mention how beautiful North Wood is on its own! If you find the apartments to be a bit pricey, which made me apprehensive initially, then consider that you truly get what you pay for: spacious and comfortable units, a gorgeous and peaceful area away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Ithaca, a couple minutes' drive to groceries or anything else you may need, and a wonderful staff that works hard to make North Wood an enjoyable place to live. My only complaints would be things outside of their control, like residents not moving their cars after a blizzard when prompted by the office. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing each member of the staff is, always accommodating, welcoming, and understanding; they are responsive to any concerns and genuinely friendly whenever I've interacted with them. I (being extremely frugal) almost went with a different apartment that was lower in price and closer to campus, but I am beyond thankful that I chose North Wood. I've always felt safe in this quiet community (although I can't promise you'll never hear a dog bark!), and I would recommend it to anyone. When looking at apartments, remember that you'll be spending a great deal of time wherever you live - so make sure it's a place you love with excellent management. For me, that's North Wood to a T.
This is a great, quiet place to live. The staff is super nice and accommodating! I just moved here a few months ago and I have been impressed by the the helpful staff, the quick winter maintenance, and overall area.
North Wood offers really nice apartments in a wonderful location - close to everything, and with a Zone 1 bus stop on site! The grounds are beautiful, and the apartments are quiet. The way the buildings are arranged, with the patios and balconies facing each other, you can get to know your neighbors, if you want to. I love the mix of ages, cultures, and "family units" - college students, young professionals, couples of all ages with and without kids. Plus, pets! North Wood also stands out in the rare occasion when something isn't quite right. There is one maintenance technician assigned to my building, Todd. He knows the building and every apartment. I have one of the vintage kitchens, and there was some normal wear-and-tear issues. Todd "tuned up" the cabinets - including making a brand new drawer front, because yes, he is that talented - and they look great and function perfectly now. From Lauren, Jess, and Lisa in the office to Todd and all other staff I've met, everyone here cares not just about the apartments, but about those who live here, and making us feel at home. In short, this is a great place to live.
We chose Northwood for its location, quiet community, and very friendly staff. The complex was conveniently located both close and far enough from Cornell’s campus and downtown Ithaca. Our unit was clean and just what we needed! Management was friendly, responsible, and responsive to our needs. Whenever we submitted a maintenance request, they were on it right away. And they do a great job clearing snow from walkways and parking spots during the winter (a necessity in Ithaca). We really enjoyed our time in Northwood and would highly recommend it! Ask for Lauren - she won’t let you down with anything you need in terms of living comfortably at Northwood!
I live in Northwood for two years and I love this complex! It's so quiet and peaceful here, great landscaping. The staff here are very helpful and always response quickly. Great location...within 5 mins drive, you can get to supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants and Ithaca mall. The best thing? Northwood is such a dog-loving complex, so many well-behaved fur-friends! My dog loves here.
North wood is in the perfect part of Ithaca to avoid the crazy students and still close enough for me to get to the vet school quickly. Coming from a bigger city I’m still surprised at how peaceful it is.. you never hear your neighbors. I love it here and will stay as long as I’m in Ithaca!
I've lived at Northwood for almost two years. They don't allow you to see your actual apartment until the day of your move-in so that's a bit odd. When we moved in, I was shocked that the bathroom floor appeared to be about thirty years old and the tile grout was crumbling. They refused to replace it unless we agreed to use other bathroom accommodations for FOUR days. Meaning you can't live in your apartment while it's being redone. Meaning you are stuck with the problem unless you want to live in a hotel for four days. Needless to say we still have the floor tile. Also- the appliances are EXTREMELY low end. Like the oven doesn't even have a light in it. Stove doesn't have a timer. Range probably could be purchased new for about $150. Refrigerator is only 14 cubic foot and is the most basic fridge I've ever owned. It barely holds enough food for two people. Dishwasher is low end and very old. Air conditioner is built into the wall and is the original air conditioner from when building was built. It barely cools the living room. We've started looking elsewhere since the rent keeps going up each year about 2%.
North Wood Apartments is a great place to live. I'm a Cornell grad student and I love it. Convenient bus ride to campus, secluded peaceful complex with great people living here. You can definitely find cheaper places to live, but they will not be as nice as here. Office staff are friendly and helpful. I forgot to pay rent one month and instead of just waiting for the late fee to apply, management called me and reminded me so I avoided the fee. Garages are available which was perfect for the winter months! No scraping ice off my car! Overall I've been very satisfied with my time here.
