Cradled in the convergence of five valleys, in the heart of the northern Rockies, Missoula is the second largest city in Montana. Home to the University of Montana, Missoula balances urban sophistication with the rugged outdoors. Museums, local breweries, and historic theaters are surrounded by several National Forests and plenty of mountains.

Missoula is regarded as a cultural center of Montana with three major film festivals taking place – the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, the Montana Film Festival, and the International Wildlife Film Festival. The Wilma shows art-house films and live performances in a historic theater. Missoula Art Museum, the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, and the Philip L. Wright Zoological Museum at the University of Montana feature rotating exhibits. Southgate Mall provides endless options for retail therapy.

Nature therapy is also big in Missoula. The nearby Clark Fork and Bitterroot Rivers make blue ribbon trout fishing a local mainstay. Boasting more than 500 acres of city park land and 26 miles of trails, you don’t have to go far to enjoy Missoula’s natural beauty. For a more secluded natural adventure, both Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park are located within driving distance.
