Barnesville is a small town in the central Georgia countryside, roughly fifty miles south of Atlanta and forty miles northwest of Macon. The city boasts a rich history, once known as the “Buggy Capital of the South” and featuring a huge collective of preserved buildings. The annual Buggy Days celebration remains the community’s signature event, with food and music festivals filling the calendar throughout the year as well. Barnesville is also home to Gordon State College, which serves around 4,500 students and employs hundreds of locals as faculty and staff members at its campus near the center of town.
