Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama, combines historic Southern architecture with contemporary living options. Known as "The Druid City" for its water oaks planted in the 1840s, Tuscaloosa offers a mix of college-town energy and residential calm. The downtown district and Riverwalk area feature the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, which hosts concerts and events along the Black Warrior River. Housing choices include properties in the Downtown Historic District and apartments near campus, with current rental rates averaging $946 for one-bedroom units and $1,120 for two bedrooms.
Bryant-Denny Stadium anchors the city's fall calendar, while outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the University of Alabama Arboretum and the Riverwalk's paths throughout the year. The historic Bama Theatre presents performances and films, while the Children's Hands-On Museum offers educational exhibits. The Mercedes-Benz plant, established in 1993, joins the University of Alabama as a major employer.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

All of our residents are important, and we are sincerely sorry that you have experienced a problem. We would love to schedule a meeting to document your issues and concerns so you can be assured that they will be addressed. Please reach out to our office if we can assist in anyway.
I moved in August 2021 when the complex was still the Grand at Rum Creek. Pretty soon after moving in our washer broke, the seal on the fridge broke, our doors quit locking and unlocking, as well as other maintenance issues. It took weeks to get anything fixed, and even when it was it would break again shortly thereafter. Also they advertise having a bus system to the colleges around the complex. And while they do have the service, it is very unreliable so if you live here you definitely need to have a car to get anywhere. Then, we started having issues with cockroaches around September. Again, we alerted the apartment but nothing was ever done to resolve the issue. And is still going on as I write this review in April 2022. Fast forward to March 2022. A new company, DLP, takes over the apartment complex. They have somehow made my experience living at this apartment WORSE, and I didn’t even know that was possible. My room mates and I live in a 5 bedroom apartment. One room was vacant, until recently when the complex (with only 2 days warning, over a holiday weekend), told us someone would be moving into the apartment. The person they moved in has been engaging in illegal activities and having suspicious characters over at the apartment. After alerting the complex to the issue of illegal activities occurring, they took no action. Now this person has attempted to break into my room while I was asleep, and still they refuse to do anything. Also if you are allergic to cigarette smoke or have asthma don’t live here-they allow smoking of all sorts so if you value your health don’t live here. This place is unsafe. The gates have never worked, and now they have simply removed the gates altogether so don’t think it’s a safe gated community. Also there have been at least 2 shootings while I have been here. And there have been parts stolen off of vehicles, so make sure you have good insurance. I truly have never felt less safe, less valued as a tenant. I just pray I can get out and hope this review stops someone from having to go through what I have been through. To conclude if you want a safe clean place to sleep at night, this ain’t the place for you.
The Grand is where it’s at, super nice units, very friendly workers, excellent fast service when anything is wrong, and they always have fun events where you can win prizes and save huge amounts of money on the already cheap rent
Don’t do it!!!! This is not where you want to stay, these ppl are fake friendly, and will try to get money out of you any way they can!

I could give lower than one star I would. On June 20th, 2019 I contacted the front office regarding a toy in my room that was completely covered in ants. At the time it was the only place in my apartment that I saw ants. They told me that they would put in a request to pest control. To my knowledge pest control never came. On June 25th, I contacted the front office because my couch was completely infested with ants. They were coming out of the wall and into my couch. Pest control and maintenance came. They caulked the hole in the wall and sprayed the couch and my room. I’ve cleaned up my entire house, washed all clothes and etc. On June 29th, at 4 am I woke up completely covered in ants. My bed was infested with ants. They were coming out of a hole in the baseboard and into my bed. I have taken picture and video evidence of all of this. The managers response was to temporarily place me in another unit. Nor did she provide any reason to explain why I had ants on the third floor. By July 10th ants had completely infested my apartment despite claims that pest control (Terminix) came Out every week to “do a treatment”. The only reason they weren’t over my bed again as well is because I pulled it away from the wall. They were completely covering the apartment floor. By July 17th ants had infested my clothing bins and my clothes. I got ant bites and ants all over my clothes while trying to wash my clothes that had ants on them. The property manager did not express a capability to fix the problem and instead suggested to move me permanently to another apartment. Without any offered help to assist me in moving. The unit that she tried to permanently place me had broken cabinet doors and the screen to the window was in the closet. I have picture and video evidence of this as well. It’s been a month and they allowed the problem to continuously get worse. The manager also neglected to inform me that the base boards sit above the floor so they were able to access my room from any point in the apartment. As of today we have contacted the Regional manager.
