Got stuck at Colonial Grand (CG) during covid, and I must say that living at CG was the WORST experience of my life. In my opinion, the place is a dump. The grey buildings look depressing. The hall areas are disgusting. The front office people are nasty; the maintenance work is usually shabby—although the workers are pretty nice. I would talk to neighbors to see if my assessment was too harsh, but apparently not. The buildings are old and constantly need repairs. I recall that we had 4 leaks in our ceiling, one of which ran down our wall like a waterfall, spilled onto the carpet, and went into the apartment below us. I asked for a tarp to no avail. I had to get clothing in my closet dry cleaned, at my expense, after one of the leaks. Appliances were cheap and faulty. The washing machine ruined some of my clothing. We had 2 bathrooms, but one of the toilets was constantly breaking. My husband asked for a new toilet, but they refused. We got tired of complaining and figured we’d just live without it working properly. Our stove caught fire and we had 3, yes, 3 other stoves put in during our stay (approx 3 years). The trash removal system is gross. I could go on and on and on. Lastly, I just want to say that our dishwasher broke after we gave our 2 month notice of moving. The administration never bothered to fix the appliance for us. I knew that we were there temporarily, so I endured the horrible experience. I didn’t realize how depressing the place was for me, until I moved.

This place is simply peacefully surrounded by nature and wild life, good and friendly neighbors. The pool is clean and any issue we raised to the office was fixed in time manner.

I give Colonial Grand of Lakewood Ranch 1 star because I cant give it 0. After living there for a year, I could not wait to move. This place is not worth the money they charge even though its got a decent location. The lawn maintenance team does a horrible job and leaves a mess making the place look unkept all the time. Ive never once seen the dumpster not overflowing and smelling horrible. No one picks up after their dogs at the dog park or around the apartments and the office overlooks it. Everything about this place is outdated and they try to make it look nice with the cheapest materials they can find (countertops, cabinets, fixtures, etc). Do your research because for what they are charging you can get so much more for at other places in the area like Echo Lake or even TGM by Target is cheaper. Living here was a huge mistake.

Dissatisfied with the $50 a month charge for the MAA website. Dissatisfied with the change to no grace period past 1 day late after the 1st of the month charging $150 + each day.
Peacefull enviroment and well located
We have loved the tranquility and excellent service at Colonial Grand. The apartment was clean and prepared beautifully for us to move in, and it has been a quiet and friendly place to live. Our pups love the welcoming pet friendly environment, and the grounds are constantly maintained. The location cannot be beat! 5 stars!
Pristine neighborhood with all amenities within a block away, including grocery stores, hospitals, dentistry, and Lakewood Ranch Main Street. Maintenance is responsive. The grounds are beautiful. Pretty much the best location in Lakewood Ranch in my opinion.
Location is perfect and by that I mean close to shops, entertainment, and restaurants. workers keep the property clean and neat. maintenance is super.
Honestly, this place is great. I was treated well by Bonnie who helped me find the right apartment and the right moving date. The fact that the cable is included on the bill in a great package deal is amazing. Surrounding areas include Main Street (walking distance), pharmacy, supermarkets, and UTC mall is a 5 minute drive. The only thing that I would say here that could improve is some the lighting around the parking. This is safe area but around my building (12) it can get dark once the night hits.

Excellent place to live. Quiet, well built and good landscaping. Located close to shopping, dining and other amenities. The staff is very responsive and friendly.

First off great location. Quick access to all Lakewood Ranch and to shopping. Publix, Walgreens, and several dinning places are less than a mile walk if you are into walking. The property is secluded. Even though it is in the middle of everything Nature preserves surround all sides. Great grounds. Always well kept and looking nice. Great people. Not just the residence, but the staff is amazing. Hands down amazing. The property is nearing 20 years old, but only minorly shows that age. Yes, perhaps the latest trends in layouts etc is a tad dated, but they have upgraded finishes in units to keep up with the trends. You will from time to time hear an upstairs neighbor, but it is not due to thin walls or floors. Any where you have a floor above you will hear bumps, never hear anything through the walls which is a huge plus. Overall another MAA property that delivers great value and makes it enjoyable to live in.

I live with my wife. We are on the 2nd floor and have been happy so far since we've moved here. It's mostly quiet and peaceful, residents are respectful, staff is friendly.
The staff is great. If something breaks they come right away. It?s in a great location and it?s very safe. The two downsides is no elevator and it?s an expensive apartment because of the location.
Overall, my experience at the property has been nice. They are prompt to respond to maintenance requests and the office staff are pleasant. I feel very safe living here.

I am very happy with my apartment, when I go out to my patio I see the well-kept garden, the completely green grass and the bushes always trimmed, the bedrooms are large and fresh, the colors of the walls are very appropriate for any type of decoration that I choose, in addition artifacts such as the washing machine, dryer refrigerator etc. are very appropriate and if I have any damage in the apartment as for example the faucet or even to be spoiled a focus is fixed or changed immediately. It has all the stores nearby, pharmacies , supermarkets, cinemas, etc. It is a safe and quiet place. They are always renovating and improving the place

We sincerely appreciate your encouragement of our well-appointed apartments, superior maintenance, easy accessibility, and top-notch comfort.
We love living here. We have a first floor two bedroom and it was newly renovated when we moved in - new hard floors in all areas except bedrooms, new carpet in bedrooms, new countertops, new appliances, new sink! They also installed nicer faucets, ceiling fans with lights, and nicer door knobs which really help make it seem less like an apartment and more like a little house. One of my favorite features was the brand new oversized washer and dryers! I will be buying the exact same set when we do buy a house because they are LIT! I can wash my king size comforter in it with no issues! It's a big deal for anyone who has lived in an apartment before, because usually the washer is teeny tiny. The master bedroom is huge, our king size bed fits with plenty of space to spare and the master tub is extra deep, which is so nice for soaking in after a day at the beach or using the gym here. We have a patio that is fully screened in and we enjoy sitting out there with our kitties! The office staff are very nice down to earth folks, and they don't nitpick about keeping bikes on the patio, which was a huge plus for us! The complex is walking/biking distance to Publix, Starby's, salons, several brunch spots, a theater, etc. The Thai restaurant across the street is fantastic. It's just so nice to be able to walk to dinner on a warm evening. The maintenance people we have met have been fast, efficient, and incredibly nice. We take advantage of the pool and grill areas frequently and have always been satisfied. It feels like a little resort - but how can you not feel that way in a beautiful coastal town, 7 miles from the #1 beach in the USA? We are only minutes from the mall, Home Goods, TJ MAxx, and Marshalls - so there's pretty much nothing else you need in life. I am confused by the negative review below - yes the trash is full most of the time, but it's an issue every apartment I have ever lived in deals with. And yes, first floor apartments get bugs sometimes, but so will the first floor of any house you buy. We sprayed some cheap ant spray outside around the window and voila problem solved. If you are scared of a few bugs, maybe the nice wooded view isn't for you and you should ask for other availability. If your hall is dark, talk to maintenance and I am sure they will change the bulb and clean the light, they are so nice and helpful. Perhaps it's all in perspective. We are living the life here and loving it!

I couldn't give it zero stars so I had to give it one. Colonial Grand apartments in Lakewood Ranch are horrible. The smell of the first floor apartment was horrendous. The fake kitchen countertops, fake wood on kitchen and bathroom doors are made from the cheapest materials that you can purchase. If you live near the woods, beware of the hundreds of bugs waiting for you at your front door to fly in. The trash bins were always filled and trash, old appliances sat outside the bins for weeks. The overall appearance of the complex once you pass the outside of the development is very deceiving. The halls to the back of the complex are dark and dirty. I could go on forever about this place. It is not worth the money that they charge even if you are close to Main Street.

Walking distance to Main Street with wonderful restaurants and shops, minutes from i75; a very nice pool with two new grills; a screened in lanai / big screen television; and the grounds are immaculate. 20 minutes from the best beaches from Siesta Key; Lido Beach; and Longboat Key. Great shopping at St. Armands Circle!
