Property Ratings at MAA 1201 Midtown
Lived here for almost two years and will not be renewing my lease because the property desperately needs to be updated for what they charge for rent. I had lived here for a year and my rent was raised over $400 to renew my lease. The office staff are condescending and unhelpful, if anyone is even there to speak with. I have lived in Mt. P and Downtown Charleston and never have had such an upsetting experience.

I rented this place sight unseen. The whole process was entirely stress-free and effortless. Shelby, the office manager, is thoroughly professional and helpful. She not only did a video walkthrough with me and showed me different apartments, once the apartment I had chosen became available, she sent me video of it so I would know exactly what I was getting. I’ve been here a week now and find everything to my liking and perfectly suited for my needs. Unit itself is well appointed, since I’m in the new building there is an elevator, keyless access, spacious and well equipped gym downstairs, trash chute (no trash bins lining the hallways which I detest!), packages delivered to your door, high ceilings, clean and well maintained hallways….the list is endless. I just love my new home…..so happy to live here!

I have lived at 1201 midtown since January, and I was one of the first residents in their newest building. At first, things seemed great. The apartment itself is very beautiful, the office staff is friendly, and maintenance concerns were handled quickly. However, as more and more apartments were occupied, it became evident that noise is a real problem. I can hear every word of conversations held in the hallway, but worst of all, the noise that travels from my immediate upstairs neighbors is appalling. I am awoken everyday no later than 6am by their running toddler. The vibration in my apartment is enough to rattle my blinds and wake me from a sound sleep. Although I was told when considering this complex that there are strict “quiet hours” between 10pm and 8am, the management team has not done anything to remedy the issue. My recommendation would be too strongly consider how comfortable you are operating on your neighbors schedule before moving into this complex. In my opinion, no amount of subway tile or stainless appliances can make up for the lack of peace and quiet.

I rented this apartment sight unseen but the office was very helpful with providing me a floor plan as well as measurements of the entire unit. Site location and apartment views were shared prior to final lease agreement. Application, lease and move in went smoothly and 1201 Midtown did all they promised and were quick to respond to a few initial repairs. Any call to the office was handled in a friendly and efficient manner. Grace, Joanna, Erin and Diane create a warm and welcoming atmosphere - its like walking into a friend's home. Maintenance staff - Quentin, Brent and Freddie have been most helpful with any request I have had and are great, helpful guys to have in your apartment - always polite, leave no mess and complete requests. There are a variety of people and age groups here - it has that small town feeling with great amenities and beautiful landscaping. I am beyond pleased with all experiences here and feel very fortunate to live in this great complex.

If you like the A/C do not move here. They will cut off access to YOUR own air conditioning when it drops below 80 degrees outside. So if its 78 outside and you want to cool down they will just tell you to "open a window" to cool down. Absolutely absurd, if I pay this much and my apartment is 77 degrees on the inside, I want to turn my A/C on, not to open a window. I guess they are trying to save on their electrical bill.

Front office and maintenance staff do their best to satisfy residents by promptly accommodating our needs. Janitorial staff do a great job taking care of the grounds considering the age of the property. However, there are periods where messes are left in elevators and stairwells for a week or more. Other than that is is great that I can rent a garage for my vehicle, get maintenance done promptly when required, and the location is fantastic for me. Property has been well cared for and aged well. Rent is priced competitively albeit garages are a little pricey but more than worth it. I do wish the policed parking a little tighter because some people (always a massive truck) take advantage of the lax restrictions of parking in front of your own garage to the point where that is their normal spot making it difficult to get in and out of neighbouring garages.

I love the apartment itself. It?s modern and comfortable and has space where I need it. The one thing I wish was different is that it?s really noisy. I can hear my neighbor?s music and tv quite frequently and sometimes it?s hard to fall asleep.
responsive staff, clean community, plenty of doggie waste bags. however, insufficient space for trash and recycling...especially on weekends. parking is clearly becoming an issue as well - very much envision traffic will become an issue too once the second phase opens.
The property is always well maintained, and I really enjoy the actual apartments! They are much more spacious than you would find in other apartment complexes.
Relaxing and luxurious
Wonderful people and beautiful place. Love the living situation and the fact that they are not breed restrictive. One complaint would be that they do not always follow through with they say. Example: They say they will be stricter with dog poop on the property and smoking yet there is dog poop EVERYWHERE and people smoke all the time. Over all we are happy here but would love it if the yard was kept up more and if the rules about dog poop and smoking were more strictly enforced.

1201 Midtown has been a pleasant living experience. I arrived here 5 months ago after downsizing from a four bedroom house and the people have been wonderful. Any issues have been taken care of as soon as possible which puts my mind at ease. The facilities are clean and well taken care of, especially the pool area. All in all, 1201 Midtown has been a great experience.
So far so good. Wish they would quit upping the rent before it forces me to move.
Great living community. experience has been great so far! Very crowded though, parking is very difficult and is a growing concern. The bike rack is FULL and there is not any other permitted place to store your bike. Lots of roaches. Pool area is loud at night. Fast driving through the complex. Trash compactor is always disgusting. Valet trash recommended.

I have just moved in to 1201 Midtown and already regret signing a lease here. Office staff has been totally unaccommodating since the moment I signed. The fixtures in the units are cheap and they will not allow lights or fans to be changed.They don't have faith in their own maintenance staff to safely change a basic light fixture and won't allow me to do it myself or agree to any solution that would allow me to customize and change the low rent fixtures they expect you to live with. I even offered to hire a licensed electrician to do this so that I can make my unit feel like a home. The trash was allowed to pile up outside the dumpster area. creating a health issue (and at the very least) an eyesore. I regret that I have a 12 month lease with this complex.

I'm sorry to have to do this, because the people who work here are great, but this place has a huge roach problem. They've tried, numerous times, to spray for bugs, but they just keep coming back. I'm not sure of they are some type of super roach, but these things are three inches long. Not like normal roaches that scurry when the lights come on. These things will show up in my living room, bedroom and bathroom at all hours. Last Saturday, while sitting in my living room watching football, one dropped from the ceiling. I've sprayed, they've sprayed. I put down combat baits that are supposed to kill them where they nest. No luck. As it is, my girlfriend won't come in here anymore. Something has got to change.
We searched all over Mount Pleasant and found this to be the BEST by FAR! From the saltwater pool, outdoor gas logs, beautiful interiors with wonderful appliances. Very safe with key fob access. Staff was friendly and helpful. This was an exceptional value compared to the other places we looked at. It feels like you are at a resort. BEAUTIFUL!

My wife and I have lived in the Haven since April of this year and love it! The facility is first rate and the management team could not be any nicer or more helpful. It is close to everything and the common areas are open around the clock.
I have lived at the Haven at Midtown for about 3 months now, and I must say that this complex beats renting anywhere else near downtown Charleston. The price is right, they offer a great deal for new tenants, its minutes away from Historic downtown Charleston, and the amenities here are unbeatable. A saline pool, free Starbucks coffee, free parking(impossible downtown), a virtual golf room, workout center, and dog park-almost too much to ask for. Its an amazing property with a great staff and we couldn't be happier here!!
I have only lived here for a short time and I love it here very much. The apartment very modern and beautiful. The staff is very polite and helpful. I love the Gym, pool and virtual sports room. They also have a Star Bucks coffee machine in the club house which is great. I recomend the Haven at Midtown to everyone. I give it Five Stars.
This is a new complex so I feel it is still a work in progress. It has a great pool area with relaxing seating and gas grills that are a nice touch. The staff has been helpful and pleasant. It also has a nice indoor sitting area where you can get star bucks coffee, tea etc. The gym is great and they also have another workout room where you can even do a spin class on a TV .The room I really like is the virtual sports room where you can play a lot of different things. We have been very pleased so far.
