History

Lowry Park North sits within Central Tampa, Florida, a city first inhabited by Native Americans during the early 1500s. Later, Spanish explorers arrived in search of gold. Following the French and Indian War, the state of Florida became part of Great Britain in 1763, and the Tampa Bay area was renamed Hilsborough Bay.

In 1783, the Treaty of Paris allowed Spain to regain control over Florida, who eventually sold the state to the U.S. in 1821. In 1824, Fort Brooke was established in Tampa in order to provide shelter and safety to soldiers as well as settlers. In 1849, the Village of Tampa incorporated and the city continues to grow today.
