The Glen Ellyn/West Chicago corridor is a stretch of suburban communities that start in the heart of DuPage County and extend to its western edges. Conveniently located about 30 miles west of downtown Chicago, these charming suburbs provide the best of both worlds: family-friendly neighborhoods filled with parks, just a short drive or train ride away from the action of the city. Some of the neighborhoods in this region include Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Winfield, Carol Stream, and Glendale Heights.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Lorraine Park & Parkview Apartments
Quiet so far.. I have only lived here 5 months, but going through summer with wall AC I was worried but no issues. Very cool if needed. The only issue is no thermostat..I guess a boiler in the basement. I was warned by residents that it gets really hot in winter, but we will see. I don't sleep when it's hot.. so hopefully she was wrong. Otherwise happy. I'll keep you updated

We've lived in several apartments. This is by far the worst. You will hear screaming hooting& hollering at the top of their lungs nearly everday for several hours and have incredibly bright lights shining right on your patio or balcony that look like your on a runway. It's all due to the annoying ballpark behind the apt buildings. It ruins the whole life here. No peace& quiet. Even with all windows& doors shut it can still be heard. It goes on for several hour nearly everday, often until 10 or 11 pm. We feel lucky on a night they stop before 10. Since when does a resident have to shut everything in their apt. And STILL hear this racket? We have to be "locked up" from late afternoon until evening. On a cooler night we would like to open windows&doors for fresh air, but cant because The noise from yhe park is unbearable. Who can afford to just run air condition so many hours everyday for half a year to get cool air& block out their noise? It's not fair to residents who pay to live here. And again Im mentioning their noise can still be heard with everything shut. We cant enjoy our balcony either because they're so loud its not peaceful and the ballpark lights shine right in our eyes. Part of why we rented here was because the apts have a balcony(very large). Now we can never even use it. Useless balcony. We have to wait until after 11pm for them to leave the park so its quiet& to turn he lights off. Real fair to a tenant. How many people are awake after 11pm to go out on their balcony? If anybody would say why did you rent an apt behind a park what do you expect? Well, management never said anything when we rented here about there being a heavily used basevall park. We actually thought it was a park for walking, running, bike riding. How loud would people be in that type of park? We also didn't know "spotlights" would shine in our eyes all night long making the balcony unbearable ro go out on. Sometimes we even hear screaming in the park at 7 a.m. The tenants for the most part are fine, quiet. Many are elderly which made the property appealing. But again the ballpark makes for a miserable life here.
Excellent environment. wonderful place to live, peaceful surroundings.
Property Manager at Lorraine Park & Parkview Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for taking the time to review Lorraine Park and Parkview Apartments. The staff works very hard to ensure our residents have a wonderful place to live.
Lovely an spacious apartment with all modern ameniies - stainless steel appliances. Free heat, water and gas - u just cant beat the price..Heater control for each and every apartment..Winter was so much better with proper heat in the apartment. I dont have pets and this is a pet free building (works well for me). Good maintenance and 24*7 support in case if anything/any appliance doesnt work. So far the best apartment I have ever resided in. I am on my 2nd year lease now. Wheaton has got the best schools too :)
The good: LOCATION! Close to everything - shopping, food, entertainment. So convenient. Size of the apartment - our 1BR/1BA is 900 square feet. The rooms (excluding the bathroom) are all large and spacious. Love the 2 sliding glass doors and huge balcony. Price - for the location and size of the apartment the price is really fair. Neighbors (most of them) - lots of senior citizens which makes for a great quiet building. However, a few younger people have moved in lately. A few residents don't follow rules and work on their cars in the lot, and I think some have pets which I thought was forbidden... Also, pretty sure one downstairs neighbor of us is dealing drugs in the parking lot. You get weirdos everywhere you live though. The bad: They do renovate most apartments before a new tenant moves in. For us, renovations included new cabinets and countertops, along with fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom, brand new carpet, and fresh paint. These are older buildings though and some things are just not attended to, including the tile floors in the bathrooms (we constantly have tiles popping out and the grout is filthy), the sliding doors are in bad shape (both of our handles are broken), and the windows don't open easily. The walls have so many layers of paint that they chip easily. And they don't take good care of common areas: carpeting is old and dirty and looks like it's original to 1975. The washer/dryers are constantly breaking as well. No washer/dryer in unit - one of the main reasons we are moving. No pets allowed - communities really need to look into being more flexible on this! Buildings just this year became smoke free, even though we were told when we moved in a few years back that buildings were non-smoking. The hallways can smell nasty. Dated decor in the lobby is kind of embarrassing and the stairways are disgusting. Keep all of this in mind before deciding if this place is right for you. All in all, we've been pretty happy here...but want out now!
