The best places to shop in Midwest City are the malls and strip centers closest to the Air Force Base, located in the Air Depot Blvd. and 29th Street area. Located here is a decent variety of places to shop such as Target, JCPenney and Kohl’s. There is also a Lowe’s Home Improvement store, a Home Depot, Wal-Mart, optometrist’s office, shoe stores, and a surprisingly good place to find sushi called Pink Swirl. One may not expect to find great sushi in Midwest City, Oklahoma, but it’s here! There are several major chain restaurants in the same strip on 29th Street such as Chili’s, Old Chicago, Genghis Grill; there is also a wide variety of drive-thru or take out type places such as Chik-Fil-A, Taco Bell, and Panda Express.
Cultural Attractions in Midwest City, OK
There are many events, celebrations, and places of cultural interest in and around Midwest City. One such event is the “Made In Oklahoma Wine, Beer and Food Festival” held annually in May. This event is hosted by the Midwest City Sheraton Hotel and includes a motorcycle show, live music, food and drinks from local vendors as well as an air show. For military buffs, or families with children, there is a display of several retired Air Force Fighter Planes located on 29th Street across from the military base. This park is open to soldiers and civilians both, whereas Tinker Air Force base is restricted to Military Personnel and civilian contractors only. The park has a green space, a playground and picnic facilities as well as the airplanes to view and there is no fee charged to attend.
