Kansas City is positioned at the geographic center of the nation. It is also located where the Missouri and Kansas rivers collide. The city's proximity to the Missouri River and the Kansas River also means it is subjected to occasional flooding, with the two most recent floods being in 1993 and 1951, respectively.
