Overview

Bordered by several large parks, packed full of trees, and containing numerous homes with full-sized yards, the Glendale neighborhood in Queens often resembles the suburbs more than New York City. It’s a neighborhood steeped in history, from the beautifully preserved homes to the large cemeteries nearby, which contain memorials to many celebrities including Jackie Robinson and Harry Houdini. Glendale is well known for its wide selection of German restaurants, many of which have been in operation since the mid-20th century or earlier. Positioned near the edge of Brooklyn, Glendale residents have fairly convenient access to the neighboring borough’s many unique cultural attractions as well.
