Unfortunately, there are no parks in the retail-oriented Gateway area, but you need only travel one to two miles in nearly any direction to reach some recreational spaces. Regional parks such as Steck Valley Park and accompanying Steck Valley Greenbelt provide wonderful opportunities for family outings and athletic activities.
Most of the nearby parks are kid- and dog-friendly,
but check for posted signs if your pet
needs to relieve itself. Fortunately, many of the western and northern parks bleed into the wilderness to an extent, so fitness
junkies can certainly fit in a hike or an off-road bike ride. Annual events are sparse but present in the area, but distance to these parks is a drawback for many residents who don't want to put in the same effort to reach their recreation.
