Essington, PA

Essington is a small enclave twenty minutes southwest of downtown Philadelphia, right next to the airport. Interstate 95 and bus service give residents easy access to all of the Philadelphia area, making Essington apartments convenient for commuters on a budget. While it is definitely a solidly urban residential community, residents have a surprisingly high level of access to nature. Boating on the Delaware River is quite popular, with Little Tinicum Island Natural Area providing a secluded area rip for exploration. A bit easier to reach is the network of trails through the expansive John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge.

Essington in Tinicum Township, well-known to some as home of the Philadelphia airport, offers up a lot more than just convenience for business travelers and flight attendants. For one, some claim that local joint Romano's created the stromboli (although residents of Spokane, Washington may dispute this). In either case, Romano's also rolls out some of the best pizza in the Philadelphia area. Tinicum Township, while mostly a busy suburban enclave, boasts the John Heinz Wildlife Preserve, a stunning park and trail on the river. It also hosts the Philadelphia Science Festival, and the excitement of Center City sits just 12 miles away. The airport, SEPTA Regional Rail, buses, and I-95 make it a breeze to commute locally, up and down the East Coast, or even over the ocean.
