The East Akron
neighborhood lies southwest of downtown and encompasses Akron Fulton International Airport. With I-77 just west of the neighborhood, I-76 to the north, and numerous bus stops scattered around, residents have several choices for transportation in and around the city.
Tree-lined streets and sidewalks encourage residents to walk around this neighborhood of single-family homes.
Residents enjoy the amenities of a number of municipal parks within the neighborhood's boundaries. They also gravitate toward Stricklands, a neighborhood favorite for frozen custard and ice cream, where frozen treats can be found year-round. The East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation sponsors bi-weekly market nights where residents can purchase fresh produce during the growing season.
