Less than three miles from downtown San Antonio
lies the neighborhood of Avenida Guadalupe.
Under the aegis of the Avenida Guadalupe Association, this neighborhood has blossomed into a lively cultural arts area. Residents look forward every year to the Diez y Seis de Septiembre Parade celebrating Mexico's independence from Spain. The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center promotes cultural diversity through dance, music, and poetry, and the Galeria Guadalupe presents quarterly art exhibitions and a yearly event for local artisans to display and sell their wares. The Plaza Guadalupe features an open-air amphitheater with a large stage and 12 food booths, hosting such events as the Barrio Boo Halloween community happening.
Walk from your apartment to one of the abundant parks that pepper the neighborhood. Play tennis or basketball at Collins Garden Park, set up a soccer game at Amistad Park, explore the skate park at Martinez Park, or enjoy the 3.38-mile walking trail along Apache Creek. Locals swear by the authentic Mexican breakfast at El Buen Gusto and the classic taco fare at Las Delicias.
