Only one mile south of downtown, Allentown
City Historic District is a picturesque, quiet, friendly neighborhood full of gorgeous Victorian, Italianate, and Federal architecture and tree-lined streets. Its timeless qualities and nearness to downtown's activity, fun, and culture make it a desirable location for rentals and apartments nearby.
The Lehigh Valley Thruway permits easy access to, and an exit from, the neighborhood, while local buses service the entire city and even go directly to Lehigh Valley Airport. Allentown's extensive network of parks, trails, and green spaces heighten the Historic District's overall beauty and appeal. The PPL Center on Hamilton Street hosts A-list acts annually, mostly popular genres, but Miller Symphony Hall on N. 6th Street is the place to be for opera, orchestral jazz, and established indie bands.
Home to two professional sports teams, greater Allentown also hosts a hiking club, a municipal golf course, and a YMCA. When locals want live music, a pulled pork sandwich, and a Sam Adams, they go to Grumpy's on Mauch Chunk Road.
